We're always wondering how ad agencies sell themselves to corporate marketing teams and then roll out the kinds of commercials we lambaste. Been that way for years. Now and then occasional meaningful messages show up - sometimes without a product ad!

Uh, The ONLY reason they did this is for publicity. Gillette (or any other big corporation) doesn't give a damn about these so called causes, and you'd know that if you actually thought on it for a minute.

All they really care about is making money, and gillette has been losing a large part of their market to other newer razor companies, and they are just trying to stay relevant, and keep their name out there, and this "ad" did it for them.

Just like "Kap" did with the Nike commercials, they WANTED to stir the pot and create controversy and get their name out there (preferably associated with the "cause" du jour.) Maybe for some of you, you will shrug and say, hey at least they are getting the message out.

I say bullsh*t! The fact that they are doing it for greed and profit makes me sick. I don't care if they are "getting the message out". The message is already out, they are just jumping on the bandwagon!!

BTW, I am against men "behaving badly" in general, towards women or anyone else. It disgusts me to see what people (men AND women) do to each other.

However, this #metoo, #believeallwomen has gone WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY too far and is causing more harm than good. It has become a political tool and is being overused. No one knows for sure how many men are falsely accused of rape or sexual assault, but there are a shocking amount that have been PROVEN (either by evidence or by the "accuser" admitting to lying) to be 100% false. It is estimated that there are a good portion still in jail and/or with rape/sex. assault on their record that are completely innocent! But hey, LET'S #beliveallwomen! Wacko

If you look at statistics, violence perpetrated by females has been steadily on the rise for some time now. They are starting to approach men in sheer numbers of domestic violence. Could ANYONE show me a PSA or a commercial telling women to behave themselves and to "woman up" (for lack of a better term)? Na, didn't think so.

This country is sexist and it is towards men. The rape/ sexual assault laws are out of control. A woman needs no proof at all to get a man accused and sent to prison for rape. Just believe her!! The definition of rape and sexual assault is so broad now, just whistling at a passing woman could literally land you in jail. Feminists have actually stated that if a man and woman have consensual sex, but the next day the women feels regret, it is her duty to report to the police that she was raped. HUUUUHHHHH?? This is insane!

TLDR, SOME men need to straighten up and get their sh*t together and be real men. ALOT of women need to get their sh*t together and quit blaming men for their problems. Oh, and women, quit making dumb decisions and expecting not to have to take responsibility. In this day and age of "equality", you are a lot freer than women of the past, but that freedom comes with responsibility, and that includes not abusing the rape laws and not being the ones DOING the assaulting.

Toady Show (no typo) which is the poster channel for Me Too gave it a sound thumbs up so testicles shall be placed on the hammering block for future 'men'--i mean, theres a beef here and some bad behavioral modes that makes sense to out BUT the incredible knee jerk reaction and neutering swing that has followed really swamps the virtue of the real action needed..can't us differing genders just get along?

I gotta wonder how Matt 'Grabby Hands' Lauer likes that ad

Now that I know Gillette is a P&G company...FVCK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

Not only was this freaking campaign a bad idea, now the women are asking why their shaving products cost more than men's products.

I won't post the whole article, I did like this quote.

Maybe they should change the company's name to "JILLette" to keep with their new feminine direction...   Wink

I read all these comments and feel like I am the only one who didn't miss the boat, or maybe I see and feel when bad things happen to others and can tied today's behaviors, many of which are shown in Gillette's message to the world. I applaud Gillette for taking this action and making this move as my organization has also done the same and we hold people accountable for their behaviors both inside and outside the workplace. I do not care what Gillette has done in the past, I have my blinders purposely on and am staying within the confines of THIS message to humanity. Yes indeed - if I saw any example of negative behaviors shown in the video, you bet I would 1.) Be in your face and... 2.) Ensure you received some proper & appropriate 'Life Coaching' by your organization. I believe this message has good intentions and for the naysayers? You may wish to review your own organization's 'Code of Ethics' and how your 'outside behaviors' may impact your ability to remain employed.

The ad's director (or creator, not sure), Kim Gehrig from Australia, is a real piece of work.   Which explains why the ad was done that way.   She's done some feminist pro-woman ads, one of which would violate this forum's rules if it was posted.     Just think of the letter "V".      Sick

This message-y crap is all getting pretty tiresome.

Howzabout this message:

In reality, women are doing better than men these days.  They go to college at a greater rate than men and have more post-grad degrees.  They live longer.  Their suicide rate is lower.  They suffer from alcoholism and drug addiction at a lower rate than men.  They make more money than men (in similar jobs).  Their incarceration rate is only 2%, etc.

On a similar note,

Leslie Jones, the big, scary black chick on SNL, who was also part of the last all-female Ghostbusters sequel, is not happy with the recent announcement that Sony is planning yet another “Ghostbusters” sequel, which will ignore the 2016 all-female version in which she starred.

“So insulting,” she tweeted Saturday, adding that it’s like the version she starred in “dint count.” (her spelling)

She tweeted several other comments, some of the four letter "f-word" variety, but you get the idea.

If it doesn't have a female cast, men are pigs.

Nevermind the fact that the all-female version SUCKED!!!!

Yeah, it was horribly cringy-unfunny. Then again, I haven't laughed at an Hollywood comedy since the 80s ended.

Hell, Nicolas Cage, William Shatner, Gary Busy, & Christopher Walken would have made a funnier cast.

Seems this topic is too mature for some and simply over the heads of others...makes me wonder how our posts about commercials we dislike are really taken by any of the corporate advertisers when they see silliness about serious topics when they attempt to prove they have any good intentions.
Come on - time to put on the 'big boy' pants.

Not in this case.
The topic and subject matter just are not funny - they're VERY real.
