Nov 6 cannot come soon enough!

There are just WAY too many to post on this page from this area. They started these ads around here way back in May, June...but really amped up in Sept. Now every single commercial break there are maybe 4, 5 back to back to back.

What sucks living in the Philly area, we get double the ads for both PA AND New Jersey. None of them now are positive as we come down to the final few weeks, all are simply attack ads against the opponent, then that opponent comes back with an attack ad. (With the female narrator that sounds the same in every single commercial)

Both Dems and GOPS ads - all the same nonsense. Sadly do I trust ANY politician?...Personally, not really! But whatever, I already made up my mind a while ago.

Every year is the same sh*t I know, but this year...wow.
The ads take up 95-98% of my commercial breaks.

BUT...here are a few odd ones. I will give these a B+ for creativity OR cringeworthy!

"Vice News"  - other odd ads

**There was one from some younger guy making the rounds on the net. Looked like it was shot from a VHS Camcorder and resembled a very odd video from Beck, or Beastie Boys circa 1995 on MTV. Can't seem to find those anymore.

I hate hate hate the voices of the people in the commercials.  They sound like fkn creeper weirdos.  We have a couple of highly contentious ballot initiatives where I live, as well as a governors race.  I can't get these muted fast enough.

This is an example of an average commercial break right now.

Commercial 1: Gubernatorial candidate 1 is satan in the flesh.  The world will end if you don't vote for candidate 2.
Commercial 2: Gubernatorial candidate 2 is the worst person on the planet.  Vote for him at your own peril.  Oh yea, he also beats puppies with a spiked stick.  Candidate 1 loves puppies.  And kitties and bunnies!
Commercial 3: Proposition X will end life as we know it.  Seriously, don't vote for it if you like life.
Commercial 4: Proposition X will be the best thing to happen to the entire planet.  Please support it, especially if you like chocolate chip cookies and apple pies.

This is the worst time of the year, when it comes to commercials.  I'm looking forward to getting past the elections and into the standard yearly Christmas commercial bonanza!

We have this real asshole for a governor!  Scott Walker.

Liberal group accuses Scott Walker of misusing state planes

MADISON -- Gov. Scott Walker billed taxpayers more than $818,000 to rehab his political image by flying around Wisconsin on state-owned airplanes, a liberal group alleged Monday.

A database compiled by One Wisconsin Now indicates Walker took 869 flights and logged more than 114,000 miles over a 32-month period. The flights include several short trips, including one from Kenosha to Milwaukee.

On Feb. 6, 2016, a plane flew from Madison to Milwaukee to pick Walker up after he tweeted about getting a haircut.

Walker flew to Wausau for an National Rifle Association convention, where his calendars indicate he gave a speech and signed a bill legalizing the concealed carry of switchblades. He then flew to Madison.

He sounds almost as sleazy as our right-wing scumbag governor Rick Scumm.

By the time election day gets here, my mute button will be worn out.

I'm glad I did what I did to avoid these kinds of commercials 12 years ago. No political ads pollute my viewing, and I don't miss them at all! Big smile

While I agree with that statement, I don't think that political smear ads are a valid view of what's going on.  Well, other than politics are inherently scummy.

There's a US Representative race in my area and one of the candidates is getting hammered over alleged scandals and stuff.    Not much I can do because I don't live in their district, albeit close by.

As was said above, Nov. 6 can't come soon enough.

The bruhaha over the ToT ordinances are for nothing, because those laws are old and hardly ever enforced.   I don't know how the whole thing got started, but it went viral really fast.

I have a few friends with shields who will be enforcing them this year, but these Gents work pretty risky and sometimes dangerous neighborhoods (say, oh maybe Virginia Drive through Lincoln & Elm - Lincoln Park). Portsmouth (5-8 PM, slaps on the hands) has it easier and less restrictive than Chespeake, for example...

Trick-or-Treat hours will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on October 31 for children 12 and under. According to the City of Chesapeake, police will focus on making sure the evening is safe for everyone, not actively seeking out violations of the time or age limits. For example, a thirteen year old safely trick or treating with a younger sibling is not going to have any issues. That same child taking pumpkins from porches and smashing them in the street more likely will.

Sec. 46-8. - Trick-or-treat activities.

(a) If any person over the age of 12 years shall engage in the activity commonly known as "trick or treat" or any other activity of similar character or nature under any name whatsoever, he or she shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not less than $25.00 nor more than $100.00 or by confinement in jail for not more than six months or both.

(b) If any person shall engage in the activity commonly known as "trick or treat" or any other activity of similar character or nature under any name whatsoever after 8:00 p.m., he or she shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not less than $10.00 nor more than $100.00 or by confinement in jail for not more than 30 days or both.

They've been crazy around here, central Washington state. I've seen yes on I-1631 and no on I-1631, yes to affordable groceries, attack ads on Maria Cantwell paid for by Susan Hutchinson (WA GOP chairman who's running for U.S. Senate), pro-Maria Cantwell ads paid by herself, and even a couple of local Yakima people running for office. Every street corner there's signs, too, both for Democrats and Republicans.

Yes on an Energy Tax...
No on an Energy Tax...
And Yes to Affordable Groceries...
Back after a long absence...still hating those commercials. Go away Limu Emu and Doug!

Things almost every political ad requires:

The candidate walking with a hard hat and safety glasses around some sort of industrial factory while listening intently and nodding to a gaggle of employees (all ethically and gender diverse of course)

The candidate walking with a family around a nice neighborhood while listening intently and nodding to a gaggle of family members (all ethically and gender diverse of course)

A person sitting glumly at a table strewn with opened bills and sadly face palming because the candidate we don't want to vote for supported a tax or fee that is doing to drive the family bankrupt

An unflattering photo of the candidate we're not supposed to vote for, usually with their mouth hanging open,in grainy black and white with ominous music behind it while the candidate we're encouraged to vote for is smiling ear to ear and in color with swelling happy music

Ominous black and white shots of industrial smoke stacks spewing smoke or steam into the air in slow motion that is,as we're led to believe, going to make us all choke to death or poison everything because the candidate we're not supposed to vote for gets money from them or something.

Below the head slow motion stock footage of men in suits carrying briefcases walking down stairs out of an important looking building that are obviously some sort of evil corporate or greedy businessmen or bankers or wall street traders taking bribes or stealing your tax money that the candidate we're supposed to vote for will Chuck Norris roundhouse kick if we elect them

Young students in a classroom setting smiling big while raising their hands in a school that the candidate we're supposed to vote for supported (all ethnically and gender diverse of course)

You forgot the part where the candidate is touring some natural disaster zone consoling victims who recently lost their homes and all their belongings, assuring them that he'll personally see to it that each and every one of them is made happy and whole again.
