Appalachian Outlaws: Another “not too bad” ”Reality” idea.  And then Hollywood and Madison Ave. got hold of it Even the name says it all………… “OUTLAWS” These guys are about as “outlaw” as a Sunday School singer. And they are as “real” as the producers want them to be……..

I think the next “reality” TV show should be about “Bath Room Floor Cleaner Gone Bad!”

The last (and infamously "lost") episode will be where the cast & film crew accidently wander into an area inhabited by isolated hill people and are never heard of again...

I love it.
People sometimes hide their 'little bit of heaven' by making it look like the worst or most ignorant place on earth.

My youngest daughter double-degreed out of Appalachian State and now is a ranking exec at Amazon, yet only 27. I LOVED where she lived in Boone, before moving to Seattle...yea, think of them as ignorant. So much so they only want your dollars when you go on vacation. Yup, just like grandchildren! You can love 'em to death, but you always get to give them back - tourists can marvel at the wonders, spend all their money, then go home for another year...and the natives like it like that.

They've already filmed it.

When they start making "reality" TV shows like this, I'll start watching it.

Wink^^^those kind of natives certainly exist and give any WISE 'city slicker' another reason to ensure they can protect themselves when they wander aimlessly out into any part of 'Appalachia' where those are mostly descendants from this line of history...and yea, the natives are from hearty, self-taught stock (sometimes one wonders "how many limbs does the 'family tree' have?") once again, you need protection. It doesn't take brains to deal with these people, but you BETTER have a ton of 'common sense', 'street wisdom', a little strength, a real purty smile, and a loaded gun. These kind will even care for their enemies before caring for ANY 'outsider' and don't you forget that (here's one of the most shocking, disturbing, yet totally believable 'endings' I've ever seen in a fictional tale - and 100% Appalachian, followed by one from a later episode of the same show with local crime bosses dealing with each other, but only the 'outside crime boss' ('Mr. Picker', from Detroit) loses)
...or you can watch TRUE progression leading to what you now understand...
Let's start from the beginning...
...and watch the solidarity of community toward today...

Wink Well, back to 'Actors Playing Appalachian People', the best closing to ANY series ever (in MY books) goes to 'Justified'...and yea, Raylan IS lying to Boyd and leaving him just enough doubt about Ava, but the final bit of conversation - the finale - rips all the way to the soul.

Walton Goggins ('Boyd Crowder') has a very interesting personal history and remains  one of my favorite actors...although I can no longer see him as anyone other than 'Boyd'.
