Jim Nabors as Gomer and especially on "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C." made my childhood happier and got me through some bad times.  Always loved him, and was impressed with his singing talent.  Jim Nabors was a sweet soul and a kind man.  We suspected he was gay but couldn't care less at a time when it would have ruined his career if he could have been open about his life.

RIP Jim.

With the exception of Ron Howard, I think Jim Nabors was the last living adult cast member from The Andy Griffith Show.

I remember when I was in 5th and 6th grade, I would occasionally talk my mom into believing I wasn't feeling well enough to go to school that day. After she'd leave for work, I'd be at home alone all day to watch daytime TV.

This was in the late 60's and shows like The Andy Griffith Show, The Dick Van Dyke Show and Gomer Pyle USMC were already in syndication and running on weekday mornings.

Fond memories.

My last memory of him was back in the mid 2000s and I was watching "Gomer Pyle USMC" while eating either leftover steak or pork chops although not my favorite show, it entertained me nonetheless. This was back when TV Land didn't suck ass and had more than just repeats of "Gunsmoke", "Bonanza", and "The Andy Griffith Show" when it came to classic TV!
One good thing about TV-you could always turn it off
