One of my all time favorite Steely Dan songs:

While the poor people sleepin'
With the shade on the light
While the poor people sleepin'
All the stars come out at night

After closing time
At the Guernsey Fair
I detect the El Supremo
From the room at the top of the stairs
Well I've been around the world
And I've been in the Washington Zoo
And in all my travels
As the facts unravel
I've found this to be true

While the poor people sleepin'
With the shade on the light
While the poor people sleepin'
All the stars come out at night

They got the house on the corner
With the rug inside
They got the booze they need
All that money can buy
They got the shapely bods
They got the Steely Dan T-shirt
And for the coup-de-gras
They're outrageous

While the poor people sleepin'
With the shade on the light
While the poor people sleepin'
All the stars come out at night

Show biz kids making movies
Of themselves you know they
Don't give a f**k about anybody else

While the poor people sleepin'
With the shade on the light
While the poor people sleepin'
All the stars come out at night

Very sad indeed.  I am shocked.  Only 67?  It sounds as though he died of complications while recovering at home from a surgery he had a month ago for an undisclosed ailment.

Steely Dan, one of my all time favorites, with some of the best music ever.  I love listening to the album
Aja.

RIP Mr. Becker.

Guess now that his "Black Friday" has come, he's gonna dig himself a hole.

Then he's gonna lay down in it till he satisfies his soul.

Afterward, he's gonna let the world pass by him

The Archbishop's gonna sanctify him

And if he don't come across he's gonna let it roll

I loved their music, RIP.

Here's a kind of obscure cut that I was fond of.

Walter Becker, co-founder of Steely Dan, dead at 67.  No cause of death yet.  I guess he just finished reelin' in his years.

I liked Steely Dan, but was not the fanatic that a few of my friends are.  Still, I recognize all the talent in that duo.  So, not only is the man gone, but so is all that talent.

RIP, Walter
