Big smileWink I just KNOW Maddy got this one for XMAS, too!

My brother gave me this earlier today while I gave him his very own copy of Talking Heads 'Remain In Light', which he has wanted for quite some time.

Confusedo.k., kidlets!
How many of you realize the Stones CD has music dating back 55 years? How many even began to think the Talking Heads recorded 'Remain In Light' 37 years ago?

Infinite - Deep Purple

pretty good.  I don't think I was expecting Gillan's voice to age that well (I guess I was under the impression that it was essentially shot).

I need to check out that Stones disc.  Wish I had chucked it on the ol' Christmas list.  Ah well.

Feels strange to think that the Talking Heads aren't that much newer than the Stones.  Talking Heads 77 was 40 years ago.  That Stones song above was 54 years ago.  Back in '77, they seemed light years apart.

^^^One of my first 10 albums I ever bought (same time I bought Mountain's 'Nantucket Sleighride'). Too damned head-banging for me - never could listen to it all the way through once. Friggin' hippie kids and their loud darned-gummed noise they want to call 'music'!!!
Now, in MY neighborhood, we were raised right...
...although, as time passed, some of our favorite rockers may have lost a step...

Hell of a good choice.  It's basically a tie between that and In Rock for me.

As for Bloodrock...am I crazy to think they sound a bit like Grand Funk's evil twin brother?

ConfusedYea, evil twins although I never liked Mr.3-chord Farner until maybe over the last 10 years...BR & GFR used to appear together as they were managed by same person. Quit listening to them when 'Passages' sort of flippy-floppied, although the (original) LIVE album has always been one of my favorites and that version of 'Kool-Aid Kids' the best.
I suspect you were probably born in an unfortunate neighborhood.Wink

I should probably dig deeper into Bloodrock at some point.  I've always like "DOA".

It could have been worse...I could have had something like this going. LOL

ConfusedI could appreciate the song but I never could comfortably listen to it. Friends were dropping like flies back then, most often out of sheer stupidity (How many times did I hear, "...needles? yea. Learned how from a friend who had a friend who knew a nurse..." <flop>). I had A LOT of stupid friends I refused to follow and was always reminded of them when I would hear "DOA".  Guess that is why I have so few friends who knew me back then, these days.

Big smileWinkWelcome to another episode of "Paw's Musical Minutes'...enjoy.
Never a huge 'Queen Fan', but always loved this cut.
I have always fed off of extremely high pressure situations, which always had me flipping from my boring work to very scary and often life-threatening times with the beloved Missus...

Nice piece of electronica by a late artist (died in 2002) that many would recognize only as a Punk Rock God - Joe Strummer of The Clash.

What very great video! I love all the visual art in it...

"Blinded by the Light
(Wrapped Up Like a Douche)" -- Manfred Mann

Blinded by the light, wrapped up like a douche
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light, wrapped up like a douche
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light, wrapped up like a douche
Another runner in the night
Madman drummers bummers
Indians in the summer with a teenage diplomat
In the dumps with the mumps as the
Adolescent pumps his way into his hat
With a boner on my shoulder
Feeling kinda older, I tripped the merry-go-round
With this very unpleasing, sneezing and wheezing
The calliope crashed to the ground
The calliope crashed to the ground
But she was
Blinded by the light, wrapped up like a douche
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light, wrapped up like a douche
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light, wrapped up like a douche
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light, wrapped up like a douche
Another runner in the night
Some silicone sister with a manager
Mister told me I go what it takes
She said "I'll turn you on sonny to something strong
Play the song with the funky break"
And go-cart mozart was checking out the
Weather chart to see if it was safe outside
And little early-birdy gave my anus
Curly-wurly and asked me if I needed a ride
Asked me if I needed a ride
But she was
Blinded by the light, wrapped up like a douche
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
She got down but she never got tired
She's gonna make it through the night
She's gonna make it through the night
But mama, that's where the fun is
But mama, that's where the fun is
Mama always told me not to look into the eye's of the sun
But mama, that's where the fun is
Some brimstone baritone anticyclone
Rolling stone preacher from the east
Says, "dethrone the dictaphone, hit it in it's funny bone
That's where they expect it least"
And some new-mown chaperon was standing in the corner
Watching the young girls dance
And some fresh-sown moonstone was messing with his frozen zone
Reminding him of romance
The calliope crashed to the ground
But she was
Blinded by the light, wrapped up like a douche
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light, wrapped up like a douche
Another runner in the night
