Has anyone else noticed the lack of Potschbag commercials for Chevy recently?  Could it be?

Knock on wood!  I drove out on the beach in St. Augustine when it was closed, I can be a bad boy! Evil Smile

What's a Potschbag?

I didn't think they let people drive on the beach in California where that commercial was filmed.

The only beach I've ever heard of where you can drive on the beach is Daytona.

I think most of the cities along the southern coast of Florida allow vehicles on the beach.

As far as I know, Daytona Beach and some of the other beaches in that vicinity of East Central Florida are the only beaches that allow driving on them.

The reason is that it's kind of a tradition held over from the old days when they used to race on the beach there.

I drove on the beach in Daytona once.  Spring Break, 1977.  But it wasn't in anything particularly cool.  I think it was in one of these monstrosities:

This is a Potschbag! And you are probably right about cars on the beach around Daytona.

There are only a few dozen miles of beach left where driving is permitted. Over the years, many communities ended the practice. Driving on the beach is now possible only in Volusia County — in Daytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach –and in St. John’s County in the summer.

OK, I Googled it and the fist seven hits were links to CIH threads, most of them, referencing your posts.

I had never heard of Potsch Boyd before.

And yes, the DB area beaches the only ones in Florida that allow driving on the beach. Don't know about other states, though I think I heard about one in Oregon.

Fitting, since Pismo sounds like one of those goofy car model names they come up with nowadays.

VW had a stupid name of model with Golf.  Unless you play golf, why would you want to advertise a fairly sedate, boring (in some people's opinion) so-called sport or recreational activity?  Sleepy Rabbit means it's fast and small, but what about this new one Tiguan?  It looks like it should be Tijuana.  Now THAT's not a car you want to own!  LOL
