A terrible loss to the world. She was an influence on many comedians. Her show was a Saturday night staple on CBS for seven years. Then had the Rhoda spinoff which lasted four seasons with Valerie Harper; then Phyllis (2 seasons) and Lou Grant, the drama spinoff which lasted several years. So many good shows produced by MTM Enterprises - WKRP in Cincinnati, St. Elsewhere, Newhart, Hill Street Blues and Remington Steele.
Rest in peace, Mary.

Back after a long absence...still hating those commercials. Go away Limu Emu and Doug!

She only made a few movies, but the ones she made were well-received, including 'Ordinary People', which had her WAY out of character, but it was one hell of a movie.

She could turn the world on with her smile.
She could take a nothing day and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile. And she was a hottie, too. RIP, Mary. |

This is devestating! We're slowly losing stars from mid-twentith century one by one.

One good thing about TV-you could always turn it off

Brace yourself. Most of them will be dead within the next 10 years, too. |

Maybe that's the smile they meant "she turns the world on with". |

I'm actually not surprised with Mary Tyler Moore's death. Her health has been in decline for a long time now. I remember someone saying a few years back, "Has anyone seen Mary Tyler Moore lately? She looks like The Cryptkeeper!" The response was,"Well, she is a diabetic and that can take a drastic toll on your face."

^ And I'm not surprised simply because she was 80.

With all the money these people have and access to the best health care available, you'd think they'd use it to keep them alive longer.
She should've been able to make it to 90 at least. |

This afternoon I happened to recall a Mad Magazine spoof of the MTM show.
They called it Mary Tailor Made. Most likely regarding the way her character was portrayed as the "ideal woman". |

No, it was the horrible facelift(s) she got that turned her into Mary Tyler Skeletor...
