Enough singing!! Does anybody actually enjoy commercials with non-professional singers singing?

It just makes no sense.  I mean I can understand the beginning, when the asshole dumps her food on the floor and she breaks in to a chorus of "you don't own me".  But then out of nowhere are a pack of idiots riding around singing and other miscellaneous doofuses.  I mean how do you make the jump to the biking morons?  Totally disjointed and weird.

So was the AWFUL "Style Never Goes Out Of Style" (aka "Decades") Corolla ad from 2013. I don't think adholes test ads with audiences anymore, because how could you explain those Jamie Foxx Verizon commercials.

I was just logging on to post about this commercial when I saw someone already has. This commercial is on all the time now, and it drives me nuts not only because of the horrible singing, but the words to the song itself. Millennials and people in general really have to stop being pampered and having it reinforced in their heads that they are perfect and don't need to ever change, or ever be told what to do. No one is perfect. People do stupid sh*t all the time and sometimes need to be told when they're wrong. I mean, for god's sake, am I the only one that noticed the part with the girl singing this narcissistic song on a straight stretch of road on a clear day and suddenly drift ridiculously into on-coming traffic and not even notice it because she is so preoccupied with singing along about how she doesn't  need to be told what to do, requiring the car to take over in order to avoid a completely needless head-on collision?

-Rant over-
People are dumb.

The song actually goes back to early baby boomers (1963, when it was done by Lesley Gore), and in subsequent years, became a bit of a feminist anthem.

I did not know that. I still stand by what I said though. It may be an old song, but it totally sounds like something that would be written today, especially the way it is sung in the commercial.

I hate this annoying song and commercial so much.  I wasn't crazy about the song in Suicide Squad, but now they are overplaying it everywhere.  I can't stand it.  I want to scream when it keeps coming on tv.

^^ClapLOLLOLExactly!!  That is, until she swerves into oncoming traffic as she warbles, off-key,  about being "FREE!!!!"  Or she blows up that food truck with her special flambĂ© dish. Propane plus uncontrolled fire plus confined space plus unskilled newbie "chef" equals BOOM

Until you total it.
And then, according to Liberty Insurance, you only own three-quarters of a car.

Just checking in to say how much I absolutely loathe this commercial. I hate the song, the singing of it, the stupid feminist plot, the woman, Toyota...yeah, pretty much everything. SO STOP SHOWING IT EVERY 20 MINUTES.

Thanks.

I too am sick of hearing this song everywhere. I love oldies and as much as I like seeing others enjoy them, it's such a shame to see great songs maligned by their use in ads and theme songs.

This stupid song is stuck in my head every Monday thanks to this dumbass ad. They played it EVERY commercial break on Monday Night Football this past week! Never cared for Toyota, anyways.

Sick of this Toyota one too. As soon as I see it, I mute it. Much like 95% of TV commercials nowadays. Getting to the point where they all suck. They are all pondering to either millennials or brain-dead people, or people who like funny Geico commercials.
Back after a long absence...still hating those commercials. Go away Limu Emu and Doug!
