Nothing against anyone who may be counting on a plan like this for their retirement...but I hope we don't have to resort to this type of financial arrangment.
I remember when every woman I ever knew buckled at the knees and juiced their jockeys at the mention of Tom Sellecks name. I like girls!

A lot of women still get excited about TS, just not in the same age group as before. I remember the girl I was dating when Magnum PI first came on TV.
She used to make me watch it with her then I'd have to listen to her gush about him. I have thought about the possibility of a RM, but there's a lot of requirements. They inspect your home first, of course. Any deficiencies they find have to be repaired. If you can't afford it, they'll estimate how much all needed repairs will cost, then take that amount off the top of whatever money they offer you and set it aside. You'll have a set time to get those repairs completed out of the set aside money. Then (last I heard anyway) they only give you 75% of the current appraised value. And of course, you have to continue to maintain the property as always and you must maintain full insurance coverage on it. It might be a good idea if you have a high mortgage payment that you want to get out of, or if you have a decent retirement income and no kids or grandkids you want to leave the place to. Or if you're just desperate for cash. But for me, it would be added expenses with a so-so amount left over after all the hoops were jumped through. I might still look into it one day. |

^I figured there were some stipulations that I might not expect, another reason that I don't trust them.
Our asphalt shingles are 22 years old, State Farm sent an inspector over here 4 or 5 years ago.
I, in an Eastwood kind of way, told him to "get off of my lawn". They promptly canceled the policy.
The jackass at the corporate headquarters said they would have to contact the mortgage company, sorry you f*cking idiot! The house is paid for in full!
The agent (Brian) who my wife has been with for 20+ years thought he would go ahead and bill us for the auto insurance...I told him that he is full of sh*t if he thinks we are staying with them.
I'm sure he was not happy that I took over this type of things. Am Fam did an inspection of the roof less than a year ago, he/she saw no problems. We ended up saving some money moving the policies to Am Fam. I am getting pissed at them now for raising our rates for no apparent reason.
"Money for nothing and the chicks for free" is just like the fantasy world of RMs and auto and home insurance. Can you tell how hard I am pounding on the keys? This sh*t really pisses me off!!!

Ron that seems really nasty that State Farm tried to milk you out of money you didn't need to pay! Those ass holes! By the way, when I first heard "Money For Nothing song," I thought the lyric was Money for nothing, checks for free!" which actually makes a lot of sense!

^ Shuddup!
I am starting to see why I see so much negative talk about Sprint.
They decide to stop sending me a paper bill. All of a sudden we are being threatened with a shut down of service. I never asked for online payment, I want a paper bill, Goddammit!. You can't just change the rules! These F*ckers don't like to talk to me on the phone. They just can't do this kind of change without our approval

Yeah I just don't like Tom Selleck anymore, ever since he got that Blue Bloods show he's gotten bland. He was good in the Jessie Stone series other than that? Blah...sad really he isn't as fun and entertaining as in the past!

Actually Ron, I was on your side when I pointed out that State Farm was wrong to try to milk you out of money you didn't need to pay! Just because you and I aren't exactly the best of friends doesn't mean I can't express anger when a corporation is trying to do you dirty.

The Jesse Stone series was awesome. Shame they stopped making them after he started on Blue But I don't think he's gotten bland so much as the role he plays on that show that is bland. Give him an interesting role to play and he'd probably be as good as before. I really liked him as Lance White on The Rockford Files, the role that launched him as Magnum PI. All three of the main stars of MPI did guest roles on Rockford. In one episode, Selleck and Larry Mannetti (who played one of his two pals on MPI), both made guest appearances. Selleck got to punch Mannetti in the kisser at the end, as Mannetti was the bad guy. |

^ I happened to catch a few minutes of that show last night. It struck me as one of those old folks' shows---a la Matlock, Barnaby Jones, Murder She Wrote, etc.
I guess I should start watching. |

Which show are you talking about... The Rockford Files or Magnum PI?
If you're talking about Magnum, I can sort of see your point, but Rockford was nothing like those other shows you mentioned. Rockford was a smart-ass, ex-con anti-hero scam artist who lived in a crappy looking trailer on the beach, sped around town in a gold Firebird, sliding around corners sideways and hanging out with other ex cons and various low-lifes. Unlike those other characters, Rockford was actually cool. You should start watching it. Best TV detective show in history!!! I've seen every episode several times and still watch it occasionally. |

On second thought, I think you're right! It's Blue Bloods that made his acting bland. NOT Tom Selleck himself! He seems to be playing his Blue Bloods role in this advertisment, which is bland. |
