Made a pot of paella today. It's like a Spanish fried rice (I don't make Oriental fried rice anymore, it just doesn't come out right.) I can throw just about anything into it, like some leftover mushroom pieces that needed to be used. An hour at low heat on the stovetop works much better than cooking it in the oven. Always needs more shrimp, though...

God! I still get these scam calls! It always sounds like the same foreign guy. Today! I was just going out. I stopped on the side of our dead end street. "Is this Jerk MaHogOff?" He said, FU. |

BTW..... if there are any old newspaper articles you'd like to look up in any newspaper, the website Newspaper.com is running a free lookup until or through Monday.
It says it's only free through the link in the email I got, but I'll post the link and maybe it will work for you if interested.... |

Very strange! They always use some sort of thing to defeat the caller ID. My area code and even my local exchange. This was a white American guy who spoke perfect English. I asked him twice..."Is this Heywood Jablowme?" No reaction, he just kept on script!

It might be time to buy a new phone. This thing (an Alcatel Flip Phone) is really slow and lagging just to go between text and voice. The wife loved her iPhone. If I can find a device that I like, I might be able to tell AT&T to f**k off. $80 a month for super slow internet. I like a full size keyboard.

My mother's old slider phone had the same issues and had to get an iPhone too. It's worked out well for her.

Last week I bought a "personal sized" watermelon at Walmart.
I think it was about $3.49. About the size of a bowling ball or maybe a bit larger. Just finished turning it into not quite a gallon of pure watermelon juice. Not quite two half gallon plastic bottles. They're in the freezer getting cold right now. Damn good stuff!!!! |

Did you filter out the pulp, or leave it in? I always but the pre-cut watermelon. It's expensive, but at least I can see if it's gonna be good. Some good signs are a frosty pink color and cracks/splits in the fruit. |

All I did was cut it up into chunks and put it in the blender. It pretty much liquefied it. I guess there's still some pulp-like material in there but I drink it too. Got almost two half gallon bottles. |

I always wondered what it'd like with a juicer. I used to blenderize it in California a lot. None of the supermarkets had pre-cut watermelons, and I rarely ever got a good one. So if I turned it into juice, I could even add sweetener if it needed it. |

I actually have a juicer, separate from the blender.
My mom gave it to me as a present once years ago. I used it a couple of times when I still had my orange tree. It worked good, but in order to make the juice really taste good, I'd have to run the juice through it twice. Made a huge mess and it was a lot of work for something I'd gulp down in ne day. |

I juiced a watermelon once, threw in some yeast & let it ferment in the fridge for a month or so. Not so strong boozewise, but it was as fizzy as champagne...

I dropped off the tax papers today, so did the ex. I thought one person should do both returns. Mostly so I am listed as a taxpayer. Not only will we not file a joint return next year. I should get any Stimulus money in my account. I'm not worried, she will let me know if she gets $2800. I might ask her to send me a check. She is bound to get a refund, like always. I may have to pay taxes on the sale of the house.

I got to visit with an old buddy for a little while today. We talked about our health problems and insurance. His wife had a heart procedure in December of 2019. They are in their mid-50s.

Did a 'science' experiment the other day. I had put a paper towel in a big container of cheez balls to soak up some of the oil. After those were finished, I took the p-t outside & lit it on fire. Whoa, was that scary! As it was burning, I thought "Holy , I've been eating this crap!"

^ Are you some kind of pyro? I've been playing this scratch off game. Yesterday I won $40 and today I won $100. I can't find anyone who will go to the casino with me. I have to play at home. |

Got my first dose of the COVID vaccine today. I'm doing very well except for a little sting in the arm now and then. Mine was the Moderna vaccine. The 2nd dose tends to be a little more rough regarding side effects, not that there could be side effects from the first dose.

Here I was about 9 o'clock last night wondering why I can't get to sleep. Tossing and turning like always, trying to find that sweet spot for comfort. I must have found it, more bizarre and very real feeling dreams. I was at a party or some kind of get together. This place was a mess! Somebody stole my truck! I was so angry I felt the anxiety even after I woke up. My first wife was there flirting with me...she was looking good. I couldn't find a freaking phone book so I could call the Sheriff! |

I'm out today. I called in to work so I could take my bro for a procedure that I have to drive him home from. I hate taking off. I took 2 days off when we had 2 and 1/2 feet if snow earlier this month. Before that, it was in 2019 for my colonoscopy. No one else knows how to do my job, so I'm dreading the crap I'm gonna have to deal with tomorrow. That's why I never take time off. Of course, then, they have no reason to give me a back-up person. Dr. Phil would call me an enabler. |

Absolutely. But it would require a few weeks to just learn the basics. The rest of it would take a good year. I basically run receiving. Just about everything that comes into the store passes through me in one way or another. I have to get everything into the computer in order to pay the supplier and make sure the "on-hands" are all correct. There's also signage, fixtures, supplies, etc. And that's the easy part. |
