I hope she pulls through. It would stink if she died. She doesn't take herself very seriously. I like that.

They could've gotten tattoos prior to becoming nuns, could they not have? |

...yuppers - read about it this evening. Not the way she's meant to go; hope this is just a scre and it isn't a result of all the plastic hardening and becoming brittle.

No word yet on whether or not there's any brain activity. I hope she does OK. She may be in her 80s, but it's not as if she faded away a long time ago and we've forgotten about her until now. She's been pretty active, even has a TV show on E!. She even did something with an Emmys award show just a few days ago. However, if she does die, at least this is how she went---active until the last day when she simply stopped breathing. Not so horrible for an 82 y/o. |

Latest reports are that she's "resting comfortably", whatever that means.

How do they know if she's comfortable? Did she tell them? Maybe her hospital gown is bunched up underneath her, and she just can't tell them. That could be kind of uncomfortable. |

Isn't that "hospital-speak" for "coma"? Reports say her family is being flown in right away. That's ominous if she's on life support.
I hope she makes it. There are still a lot of celebrities she needs to make fun of....

Well, the news today said that daughter Melissa "might be faced with a life or death decision today". Makes it sound like Rivers might be brain-dead, and that maybe they already know. |

What a sad way to go. Death from throat surgery. Though if she dies in her 80's from the throat surgery, she will not be disrespected in tabloid rags after her death unlike Celebrities who died in their 20's and 30's from drug overdoses, or even older Celebrities who died in their 40's and 50's like Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson, who drowned most likely to the drugs in her system and Michael Jackson who died from a painkiller addiction.

I think Melissa has her power of attorney. This is a devastating time for her, and they might be letting Melissa come to the conclusion on her own, or come to accept with all the medical knowledge available, that there's no hope, so she will give the go-ahead to pull the plug. It is more of a time of preparation for Melissa than for trying to see if Joan comes out of it without brain damage. This is just so sad. I am super angry at all these doctors who will go ahead and do surgeries on "healthy" seniors.
I hope Joan Rivers does come out of the coma and has some more time, but it really isn't looking too good. |

I read on one site the coma she is in was medically induced.
I certainly hope they can bring her out of it & at least give her enough time to say her goodbyes to her family & friends if nothing else. Poor gal. |

Yes, from what I've read, she stopped breathing during a procedure at a clinic, went into cardiac arrest, was rushed to the hospital, and was put into the medically-induced coma. She is completely on life support now and it's unknown (or they're not telling as of yet) about brain activity. If they take her off the support system, she may die a natural death, even if she breathes on her own. Hoping she becomes conscious, no brain damage, and can live on. It's nice to read your comments which show you have heart. |

Last I heard about her until now was this morning, and she was out of ICU but still on life support.

As obnoxious as she was in the last few years, her comedy was over the top when she was younger.
May she rest in peace.

In light of Joan Rivers death, the first song that popped into my head was James Taylor song "Fire and Rain,", especially the lyric about "I always thought I'd see you again," I expected Joan to survive..... ;(. I am saddened by her death.......
