I saw this commercial for the first time in it's entirety today. I realized I had seen bits and pieces before. The "music" is so wimpy I really didn't notice it. I knew it had something to do with phones but thought it was for T Mobile because that is actually spelled out. Today I saw that is followed by the Apple logo. Hey Apple! Don't you realize there may still be an undiscovered tribe in the Amazon jungle and WW2 Japanese soldiers still hiding on remote Pacific islands who would not recognize your stupid logo.

Regardless of rather or not that is true(I have a gay friend who throws that term around rather liberally), that's...not actually relevant to the point I was making, that being that just cause you don't see something here("butthurt", or "fag" for example) doesn't mean there aren't plenty of forums where you can see them tossed around as casually and commonly as "awesome" or "stupid".

Sorry bro, it's not that you are "sharing a different opinion", it's that the "opinion" you are sharing is that people are wrong for using the forum for WHAT IT IS MEANT TO BE USED FOR. The forum is called "Commercials I Hate", so guess what champ, people are gonna bitch about commercials here. Disagreeing with people here doesn't matter-some people hated the Liquid Plumber ads that were done like they were a porn parody, several other people disagreed with them and liked those commercials, and nobody "forbid" them from sharing a different opinion. See, it wasn't the "different opinion" that caused people to think you're a dick, it's coming to a forum for discussing commercials we hate, and telling us to stop talking about commercials we hate. It's like going to a classic rock forum-nobody will be made if you dislike The Who for example, but if you go there and tell people to quit talking about old bands, THAT is it makes you a dick.

Oh, some of us may also think you're a dick for the hypocrisy of you complaining and bitching because people are complaining and bitching, but I can't speak for others on that point.

Gee! She can finger a C chord! Her "song" sounds like she even knows one more!

LOL!  LOL!!  I totally agree! At least if she was cute, there would be a reason for subjecting all of to that inane voice and those preschool lyrics and music. YUCK!!!

She looks like she eats little children, and the "music" sounds like it. It's almost like I can hear crunching in the background.
Say something clever here...

No, I'm too lazy. Imagine it yourself.

Our "Living the Life of Dreams" singer is a 42-year old Canadian mother of 4, who has TEN albums.

In her defense, the picture above is not exactly flattering. I think that's the best defense I can offer. Smile

About her hook-up with Apple- the song is from one of her albums: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-brunswick/julie-doiron-strikes-deal-for-apple-ad-using-life-of-dreams-song-1.2708423

It just depends on where you go, really. You don't see many people calling each other "fag" here, but there are plenty of other forums out there where you can see that too.

I missed your post earlier in all the flurry on the thread; yes, good point. I do live a pretty sheltered life on the Internet.
Frankly I'm amazed I even know something like "All your base are belong to us". Smile

I don't find it necessary to call someone ugly, as a few here did.  Hair and clothing might be fair game, but someone's natural physical features is a different matter...especially when it comes to females.  What if this singer came across this site and saw such comments?

The picture on that website looks much better, the one we have on our website isn't flattering at all, I apologize to her for my comments.

Agreed. We may not agree with their art or music, but what's the use of attacking their appearance?

I think it's important in many circumstances to separate artists from their art.

Nice, good-spirited people can produce less than likeable work. And vice-versa.

Agreed, from now on I will not base talent of a singer on looks. I will base talent on how well they sing!

Again, why bring looks into it?
I agree though, she has a beautiful voice.  She also has an equally beautiful spirit.  When she sings she lights up a room and people feel uplifted.
On the other hand, Julie Doiron has a sullen expression and lifeless voice.   The fact that people pay to see and hear her is beyond my ken.

True, but it might be a negative when the concert hall has to be redesigned with the seats facing away from the stage. :P

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Looks do play into it, to a degree. Certainly, someone who just releases albums and the like doesn't have looks factor, but if/when they become a fully fledged entertainer, including telly and stage, and videos, etc. Yes, I'd say looks have to play at least a little part in it.

Papa... yup. That's why no fat kid will ever win one of those singing competitions like Idol. Fat is just not marketable. No-talent bimbette is. (To wit., Jessica Simpson, Ashley Simpson, et al)

Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks and Jennifer Hudson weren't skinny either.

I quit watching several years ago when it became obvious that it was rigged. Also, Jennifer Hudson did not win. She was cut very early.

And if you thin Jordin Sparks and Kelly Clarkson are fat, you need to stop hanging around anorexic models.

I'd imagine that if they're fat when they win American Idol, they'd better lose weight pretty fast if they want to maintain their pop stardom.

My point was that there were plenty of comments going around about both of them regarding their weight and those comments didn't affect their careers or the outcome of the contest (which I hapen to agree is rigged).
Also, I can think of plenty of artists that might not conform to some narrow standards of beauty and/or weight who have had great success based on their talent in spite of being ridiculed.  Unfortunately they will see and hear words like "fugly" and it will hurt, regardless of their success.  It's bad enough when men use that word, but when women use it I just have to shake my head and wonder why we do this to one another.
In any case, I've said my piece.  Some will agree and some won't and I'm ready to put it to rest...
for now Smile

I don't hate this commercial because of the song (although it is very boring), I hate this commercial because of the scream from the baby! This commercial, and SEVERAL other commercials are the reasons why I joined this forum!!

I really don't care what she looks like, or the fact that she has four kids, or that she may be a nice person or not.  Doesn't matter.  The song is a pain to listen to, and Apple, with its gazillions of dollars, could and should have done better.  The song is DOA.   Limp.  Draggy.  Boring. Uninspired.  Just  a really bad variation of "Popeye the Sailor Man,"  with a baby's screech right at the beginning just to heap irritation upon annoyance.

That sums it all up!!!

Oh and btw, Kelly Clarkson IS a chubby flat chested COW with an ego bigger than her backside!
