What was the very first album, single, import, etc. you purchased (or albums if it was more than one) in the different formats that have been made over the decades? Mine are as follows:
Vinyl/LP: Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet (Actually the only vinyl that I ever bought - my parents & sister donated a few 45's & 33 1/3's to me before I began earning allowance) 8 Track: Never owned one Cassette: The Bangles - Different Light & Metallica - Master of Puppets CD: Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon (Although my friend who sold me my first CD player gave me Metallica's Ride the Lightning & Sabbath's Paranoid as throw-ins at the last minute) |

First vinyl: The Rolling Stones -- Let it Bleed.
8 track - didn't have one Cassette - Ooh, tough call. Maybe Blondie - Heart of Glass (I referred staring at the album art covers so I rarely bought a cassette) Last vinyl album bought - Tom Petty - Full Moon Fever First CD: truly can't remember - maybe U2? |

I honestly don't remember, I've been buying music most of my life. I have around 3500 CDs, and have gotten rid of many cassettes, and even have a few vinyls floating around that my parents bought me in my youngest days...

First 45 I bought was Twistin' USA by Chubby Checker. First album I bought was Songs, Pictures, Stories of the Fabulous Beatles. I was about 5 and 8 when I "bought" these, so it's not like I really bought them myself; my parents did. These are the first cool records I whined and whined about till my parents caved. Prior to that, all I had were those little yellow kiddie records and a 45 of The Ballad of Davy Crockett, which was technically my bro's. |

I was 4 when I heard some sorta music I really liked coming from the TV in our rec room. Went downstairs and saw Chubby Checker performing The Twist on American Bandstand. That was my first memory of rock music. I fell quickly in love. |

Couldn't begin to remember my first of any. Brother was the album buyer.
Off the top of my head: Bruce Springsteen, Pink Floyd, Ted Nugent, oh and Manfred Mann were some of my first purchases. |

Perry Como's Saturday Night With Mr. C was the first one I asked my parents to buy when I was itty-bitty.
First with my own money...hmm... GACKT's Diabolos album. |

The first vinyl record I ever bought was the 45 of The Beatles' Help!
Still have it, too. Wish I still had the sleeve. |

Yeah, I had that one.
Don't know if it came out of Mad Magazine, though. Mad had one called "It's a Gas!!" that had fart noises in it. |

Chicago IX was my first album. It was their first greatest hits album. Then I proceeded to buy all of the rest of their Terry Kath included albums starting with Chicago II. Basically Chicago I - XI.
I also got Pink Floyd albums too. Dark Side, Wish You Were Here, Animals & The Wall. Oh, Chicago was the first album I bought, but now I remember, the first album I owned was a gift from my parents, my mom mostly, Jim Croce's Photographs & Memories. |

My brother and I kind of competed. A lot of our taste overlapped, and being 3 years older, he forced me into more sophisticated stuff, so we developed quite a decent collection by 1970 or so. |

I think the first LP album I actually bought myself was Magical Mystery Tour.

I got that album the day my bro got the White Album. He picked both up on a trip to EJ Korvette's with his friends. The White Album came out right before Christmas, as I recall. |

My best friend at the time, Tom, who was two years older than me, got the White Album when it first came out. We used to sit in his room & listen to it with the black light on... Summer of '68 I believe. He already had MMT for quite awhile by that time.

My first 45 was probably The Archies "Sugar Sugar" that you had to cut off the back of a box of Honeycomb cereal.
Anyone remember that? |

Yeah, not that one in particular, but I remember those cereal box records. Somewhere, I have the same thing on a postcard. It features a song by Brigitte Bardot called Harley Davidson. |
