Country music was mostly decent up until 2013. I've always been a big fan of country because my late grandmother liked country more than any other genre. When Cruise by Florida Georgia Line came out, that's when the bro-country movement started. Since then, it's been mostly pop with a twangy accent. FGL, Sam Hunt and Jake Owen are some of the worst of today's so-called "country". Even the female artists are more pop than country too. Cowboy Troy at least sounds more country than the bro-country artists we have now.

I'm actually almost 22 and prefer music from the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Most of the concerts I've gone to are from the nostalgia circuit. I've actually met some of the artists and had pictures taken with them. This doesn't happen at most concerts, only at the small venues. I was pretty much raised on my parent's music and find most of today's music awful.

My grandfather was a big fan of crooners like Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra and would even say that some of the softer musicians were "yelling and screaming". Yeah right, James Taylor rarely ever screams in his music.

For parents who are boomers, it's about how they don't like most rap, and it's going to continue with each aging generation.

I am literally 3x your age Ouch Cry

I grew up listening to my dad's country music.

Most old time country music fans like to cite Hank Williams Sr. as their favorite country singer, but my dad was a Hank Thompson fan.

These two songs occupied the flip sides of a 45 rpm record my dad liked to play occasionally...

There's a guy who plays guitar and posts videos on YouTube of him doing a lot of that old music who I enjoy watching occasionally.

I'm heading out right now, but I'll post two or three that I think you'd like later on.

My grandmother liked Hank Williams Jr. but I'm not really sure  if she liked or heard of Hank Thompson. She also liked quite a few of the later country artists like Vince Gill and Tim McGraw.

I'll have to check out those videos you mentioned.

Okay, so here is a selection of some different styles the guy does.

He calls himself "Isto". FWIU, it was inspired by a trend some years back, of guys named Christopher calling themselves "Topher" (Topher Grace, etc) instead of the traditional "Chris". I guess he took it to the next level of absurdity by using yet a different segment of letters from the original long version of the name.

So anyway, he graduated from a northeastern college with a degree in music and now teaches guitar in NYC/Newark and makes these videos.

I like (envy really) his guitar playing style. If I lived anywhere near NYC/Newark, I'd take lessons from him. I suppose Thor could since he doesn't live a terribly long way from Newark where Isto now lives.

Enjoy these tunes. There are many more on YouTube. I think you'll enjoy the last one if for no other reason than what's going on in the background while he's playing. Wink

Keeping in mind that this video was posted in 2007 prior even to Obama becoming President, did you catch the part where he mentions Donald Trump?

Don't think that was an original part of the lyrics.

Maybe this'll liven things up for you.

I was telling this guy at work about this old vinyl audio porn album I once had. Great stuff! Anyway, when I looked it up just to see if it was mentioned anywhere on the 'net, I discovered a link to it on Youtube.

Yes! Wife Swapping Swinger's Orgy Porgy Party is actually on the internet!

LOL

If anyone around here would know of the existence of or had actually owned that album, that person would only be you.

LOL

The parents of a friend of mine when I was a kid had this album in their collection...

Here's a link to a few YouTube videos of Gene Tracy and his "Truckstop" series, with some of the raunchiest jokes you'll ever hear.

Some of them would make Redd Foxx blush.

And likely did.

Gene Tracy. He said titties (tee hee). Pretty good stuff. But, of course he can't hold a candle to the oh so hilarious Trevor Noah.

Rusty Warren. Classic! Now, was she dirty or was she empowering?

All the critics can't seem to get enough of Cardi B's new one. Apparently, this song, Wet Ass Pussy...well, you know the words---strong, empowering, black, blah blah blah. The best song ever! Never mind that she advocates prostitution in the song, and raps about how much fluid her vagina produces.

So good!!

I have that Mercy record!

The B-side's really good, too---all fuzzy guitar and stuff---sounding nothing like the A-side.
