If I've missed a thread for this, please forgive me, but I've just seen this ad for the 57th time in two days and it makes me want to SCREAM.

It features a nondescript car and some really bad girl singers whining something in French with a slightly schizophrenic guitar riff.  I want to plunge something in my ears to remove that noise.Dead
Love endures all.

Je ne sais quoi?!

I've never understood why that phrase is used.  "It's got that certain 'I don't know what.'"  Yeah.  That makes sense.  It reminds me of the old (stupid) tv shows and movies:  "How you say . . . ?"

Who was the first to respond to 'je ne sais quoi' with  the punchline 'If you don't know what it is, why did you say it?'
'That feeling, you can only say what it is in French...'
Whoa, deja vu!Smile

Since seeing Crosby, Stills & Nash last weekend and listening to their music this week, I've heard Deja Vu more than a few times! LOL

Or, as I sometimes say, "Deja Daja Vu Vu."  (Yes, I know.  It's wrong.  So wrong.)

The only words I can pick out of the lyric (and I use that noun with reservation), is "toujour parlez" or always talking.  So, in either language, I just wish they would

STFU!

Yeah, "Fermez les bouches" doesn't quite make the same impression as STFU, does it???

Yet again another commercial that makes very little point as to why we should buy a Mitsubishi Outlander. All I remember from this one is the irritating French singer and the fact that the people keep repeating the same actions. Nope, doesn't make me want an Outlander, sorry Mitsu...

The song is called "Je Ne Te Connais Pas", by The Prototypes.

I, too, hate this commercial. D:

And here's the (literal) translation from babelfish, LMAO!

I do not know myself
yeah yeah yeah!
I do not remember it
yeah yeah yeah!
be to you on it is me
yeah yeah yeah!
is what you are not mistaken
yeah yeah yeah!

that starts
always similar
one embraces oneself
glass is drunk
that finishes always similar
one thinks that one remembers

I especially like those last four lines--sounds like the makings of a good hangover to me!
However, the first line isn't translated properly, so who knows about the rest? "I do not know you" and "I do not know myself" are not quite the same thing!

Thanks for the translation, nautigal!  "Faith's Fractured French" wasn't good enough for me to translate it all.
