The AARP Medicare Supplement ad with the 50 year old actress walking in the woods who says "I'm only in my 60s. I've got a long life ahead; Big plans!
Now I know the woman is probably really in her 60's, because it would represent fraud if she weren't, but the "big plans" has become an perky little earworm. She's walking in the woods, and I want her to stay there.

They've been running this ad into the ground, there's not a day where this insipid commercial isn't on TV! Shut up AARP with your annoying repetitive nonsense!

Whatcha got 'gainst good ol' AARP, Sarge? Like Hooty says, there are freebie benefits all over for those of us on the swing-side of our youth. I tell ya what - being members sure hasn't bothered us - in fact, some times it is like going through a 'trick or treat' bag after a good Halloween night of knocking on doors.

Screw my soul. Getting around 10-15% off motel fare :D
Hell, I'm gay and I'd STILL eat at Chick Fil-a if there was one near me. Their chicken has some of the best macro ratios available in fast food. Why make myself suffer? |

I'm not interested in AARP, either. I guess I could take the high road and say it's due to their political positions but, really, it's because they don't have much I particularly want. 10-15% off a motel room isn't much of a deal if you don't go to motels.
If they offered a big discount on my cable bill, I might reconsider.

^Thing is, going to "they big city" is such a rare occurance for us, given the distance. usually involves staying overnight, and buying as much as we can that we can't get in our tiny town. So yeah, if we can get $8-$12 off of a motel room, even on occasion, it's worth it to me.

Yeah right! How does she know? She's old enough to have a fatal heart attack and drop dead like that! Or maybe bleed out from an aneurism, get a fatal brain tumor and be dead in 3 months like someone I knew. sh*t she might even get hit by a bus tomorrow!

brandthea,
She says she has "plans". Doesn't say she will be able to carry them out. Anybody could have any of the health problems you mention at ANY age. |

All year long they play this f'ing ad, but especially this time of year since the Medicare signup date is fast approaching. It's an old ad too, I suspect she's in her early 70s now. I personally hate it because my mom turned 65 and - bam - welcome to Medicare and have some cancer while were at it. Anyway..sorry. Yeah, ALL of these ads, the "AARP - "GO LONG" bullsh*t,
the two morons taking a day trip Overly happy woman: "Honey...we need to talk.." Dumb guy: "But I took out the garbage." etc etc.

I used to hate AARP. Then I found out that my husband and I could save about $900 a month if I dropped off of his worthless employer group health plan and covered myself exclusively through Medicare (A & B) and AARP supplemental insurance. My husband can't wait until he's old enough to do the same thing.
Granted, to find my way through the confusion of setting all of this up, I benefitted from help given by a local nonprofit that provides guidance to seniors under a federal grant, but AARP was very nice to deal with. That said, their ads totally suck. And I hate that perky b**ch with her "big plans."

One of my top ten most hated commercials of all time. The guy doesn't bother me all that much, but the unnatural, hammy, dipsh*tty acting of the woman drives me up a wall.
