Andy Williams is dead at the age of 84.  He was one of my favorites of that era/style of pop music.

He had a voice like silk! I remember watching the Andy Williams Show
and he always had a cool Christmas show!

RIP, Mr. Williams.

I was a huge Andy Williams fan at 4 years old.  My mom and dad had two of his records and I knew every word to every song of both albums at 4.  I  got them on CD earlier this year and had been listening to them a bit.  Sorry to see you go Andy.

RIP, Andy Williams.
You had a great voice.
My parents have tons of your stuff and when they'd start playing it, well...I'd leave. Place got all to damned 'squishy-huggy-sleepy', for me.

Confused...I think the 'ghost of Andy Williams' made be do some 'Spirit Typing', just for YOU, ol'Mule.
He wanted you to know he didn't get drunk with Goober, never tried to pick up 'Aunt Bea', 'Floyd' never could cut his hair right, and, well...he wasn't 'da 'Sheriff Man', doncha know...but *I* didn't say all of THIS - NO! It was 'Spirit Writing', I swear!
Maybe 'Spittle Writing'.
But, he DID tell me he had a song he wanted to sing...just for you - something 'special', doncha know...an', well, doncha guys kinda look alike? Say, maybe aren't you his blonde twin brother from another mother?

Oddly, it was in the late 70s and early 80s, as I was getting into punk and New Wave music, that I started listening more to the stuff of my parents' era.  I always liked some of that stuff, but as a teenager, would never actively seek it out.  It was too uncool.  But suddenly, I found myself buying Dean Martin and Andy Williams albums.

At this point, I have a fairly healthy collection of this sort of music.

Confused...was that about the time that the scented candles and a nice warm personal bath became the grand way to spend the evening? Would this describe those days? (nawww....Me? I CAN'T listen to Andy Williams; if I do that, I'll start listening to '101 Strings' and all that 'Made for the MudMonkey Music')

Not those days.  These days---maybe.  LOL

Oh, and 101 Strings is underrated, though I prefer the Ray Conniff Singers.

You're getting a bit mixed up there, Jimbo, although both Andy Griffith and Andy Williams died this year so it's easy to get the two of them mixed up.

I loved his Christmas stuff. Goodbye Mr. Williams. Cry

As much of a fan of Andy Williams that I was, I was never crazy about his biggest hit, Moon River.
I just never liked that song, or at least, that version of it.
When I first saw Audrey Hepburn sing it in the movie Breakfast at Tiffanys, it changed my perspective of the song.  Not the song of a stuffy older crooner, but rather a song of a young dreamer.

This song always makes me happy.  But the line "eye to eye, they solemnly convene to make the scene" always conjures up images of some sorta Satan-fest.

I adore his moon river! It won the Oscar the year I was born.....hardly stuffy.

Me too!!! My family loves the old FM radio-style Christmas music, and Andy Williams has always been one of our very favorites. There will be a twinge of sadness when we hear his beautiful voice this holiday season.
