You might be getting the heat that we had last week.  If so...sit tight---ours was followed by a nice cooldown into the upper 70s/low 80s.

It was pretty hot down here today, but nothing like up north & in the midwest.

The oddest thing happened earlier this week.... due to the tropical storm (Brett I think) that had parked itself about 200 miles off the coast out in the Atlantic, we experienced a couple of days of early fall-like weather.... IN JULY!!!!

I'm serious..... the temps went down into the upper 80's in the daytime & down into the upper 60's for the overnight low. Plus, the storm sucked some of the moisture out of the air, so.... low humidity too!!!

It was a little bit-o heaven I tell ya.

Back into the mid & upper 90's now, though.

Sucks.

After our heatwaves, things cool off when the fog comes further inland from San Francisco.  This fog pushes wind into the Sacramento Valley.  When this happens, we get these beautiful 60 degree nighttime breezes coming through the open windows.  When my bro and sis-in-law first experienced this, they remarked at what perfect sleeping weather it was.

My daughter is visiting from South Carolina where it's been running 100.  We've had heat indexes over 100 since she's been here.   I think it's her.

What a buncha babies.

Back in my day, we walked miles through fire to get lighter fluid for our backyard summer barbecues.

It got to 100 today for the first time in a while, with solid humidity & a heat index of like 107 F.  Wasn't that horrible, though.  I managed some semi-rigorous outdoor activity & didn't find it too terrible (though the fact that I was in the shade may have helped....).
I have 168 characters remaining.

My semi-rigorous activity amounted to getting to my truck, and turning on the A/C.

Curdled Milk!!! Sunofabiatch!!!
CryDammitnow! We're suffering in the '90's again!!! The news just reported that milk prices are rising ' cause cows can't sweat and most have been pretty lethargic and unproductive....now THAT sucks!
*I* - yes, PaWolf himself - have a solution (we NEED that milk, doncha know!).
Toss 'dem cows in the mighty Niagara River and let 'em 'chill'; if'n they go over The Falls, we got 'shakes'!

The hot weather may be affecting our mental capabilities, doncha know, cancha tell....

It was smokin hot around here today. Mid 90's or above.

Came home from work & after opening all the doors & windows & turning on all the fans, I could still feel the heat radiating down from the ceiling. Didn't turn on the a/c because it wouldn't have done much good anyway.

Finally, as the sun began to set, it started to cool down a little & as it got dark, cooled down considerably more. That is mainly because the air was pretty dry today & thus, the humidity was relatively low.

That makes all the difference.

I'm sitting here right now with the wondows open & fans going & it's pretty comfortable.

Right now, it's 58 degrees here.  It gets cool at night in our dry, near desert-like Northern Cal climate.  And then we have our ocean breezes (even though we're about 100 miles inland).  If, at 6am, it's in the mid-60s, it means it's gonna be a hot day.

Our humidity here is low.  In the heat of the day, it could be 100 degrees---but with a humidity level in the teens or twenties.

TWC had a similar  story about the dairy farmers here last week. The heat and lack of rain = less milk.

This summer, the humidity hit 100 Degrees two weeks ago.

Luckily, it cooled down.

AngryAngryI cannot stand Summer in the slightest sense. It is too bloody hot and humid. We here in Southern NJ are within our 5th heat wave, and during this week we shall be entering our 6th. The heat experienced here in the east is the stickiest, disgusting weather to endure. Those who will be complaining about the chilly weather in Winter shall be quickly slapped by yours truly.
Anymore, Summer begins in April and lasts until October....and THAT'S TOO F**KING LONG FOR ME!!
I HATE SUMMER!!!!Angry

We are approaching a record.  We've had 16 days over 90.  The record is 17.  We already had a record rainfall in the spring.

How about a record  string of beautiful days this fall?

In Michigan, during the terrible summer of 1988 there were over 90 days of 90+ degree days from mid-may to late August!

OuchWe are in another heat wave. 80+ rest of the week; makes it uncomfortable to go for my rides, which alone, reminds me of about 10 or 12 years ago, back in Fort Worth, when we went through well over 30 days of 100+ temps straight.
Parking lots actually buckled.
I only survived because of lots of fluid intake (and it WASN'T Molson's Ice! Friggin' Tejas!)
Worse than that, MissyDWolf had to work a womens' maximum security prison down below Waco, where it was worse. She had to go into full brutal action after the water main broke and not enough bottled water was making it in during the same month when she just barely survived the 'Bad Tuna War'. She didn't have a gas mask or Febreze.
Summer is Hell on Earth.

HeartHeart A breeze that's actually cool. A crisp blue(instead of hazy)sky. Leaves are turning colors. No more heat index weather reports.
Oh yeah, and football.....Thumbs Up

Tiz, I'm thinking the exact same thoughts.  Light up the backyard firepit, sip on a glass of wine, and this current weather will be forgotten.
