I realize this is probably only applicable in central Texas, but it's the most obnoxious ad ever. They play it on ESPN every morning, and every time it plays, they play this version at the beginning of a commercial break, and then again at the end of the break with a "just call all 7's" ending.

The ad probably plays at least 10 times on a typical morning. I know it plays on TVs in the local prisons, but damn.

Hmm.  we're I'm from, a 777-7777 number is the number to a Taxi service. Tongue
My name is Donathan, pronounced the same way you pronounce Jonathan, except with a D. :D $608 for her brother's scooter. Fair is fair my ass. Being tough on Public Access TV is priceless.

In my area code, it's a hotel.  Maybe when the guy gets released from prison, he's going to take a taxi to the hotel he'll be living in.  Maybe it's like a package deal for ex-cons.

In my area it's a taxi company as well.

It kind of reminds me of all the bail bonds ads I used to see when I lived in Boise. Wherever there's a market, I guess. LOL

At least some of their target audience may not be the sharpest knives in the drawer, so unfortunately, it's probably not repeated enough...

Confused Ya mean the flea-Bag 'Crack'nHooker'-Half-Day-Stay'nPlay Hotel?
Sounds like a vicious circle...the con can go right back to jail (maybe remembering that phone number).

Yah! I bitched to ESPN and they'll take action, I hope.

Dear NNNNN,

Thank you for giving us an opportunity to respond.

We've identified this to be an ad that was inserted by your local cable or satellite provider. Our affiliates are given the opportunity to sell ad time to local businesses, but the advertisements must follow a set of standards. It sounds like this one doesn't fit within those standards. We'll review the material and take appropriate action.

Thanks for letting us know. Please give us a few days to ensure the ad is taken out of rotation and be sure to contact us again if you continue to see this ad on any of the ESPN networks.

Sincerely,

Candice

I thought this sounded familiar.  Does anyone remember the old movie, "Calling Northside 777"?  Though it is not exactly the same, Jimmy Stewart, who is a reporter, works to free a man falsely convicted of murder.  They were probably not smart enough to use the "link" with the film by using 7s but who knows?  After all, they are getting people out of jail  Big smile

I think this may be a deceptive commercial.  Here in New England you have to dial the area code before the 7 digit number.  So it wouldn't be all 7s because the area code is 512 in very tiny print.
