Momma.... Steve Urkel. Hmm.
Ok I will give you the Steve Urkel from a couple of seasons.
Before it became the Steve and Carl's Madcap capers show and before he had ridiculous machines that turned him in to Bruce Lee.
I liked random showing up annoying neighbor Steve, who bothered Carl and his family (who were a spin off of Perfect Strangers)

Because it's admitting to being an idiot. There was an episode  where Bevis got his arm stuck in a blood pressure cuff at the pharmacy and the other moron gets the wise idea to saw it off...vertically. Another one that slayed me was Butthead choking on nachos and the idiocy that ensued.

I agree.    The show really took a dump once every story line became Steve's stupid invention pissing off Carl and causing some problem leading to a Steve/Carl adventure.    Also, I hated how they tossed Judy, Rachel and Mother Winslow aside in favor of more Urkel time.    It used to be a realistic family show but it became a joke later on.   Also the whole Laura vs. Myra and Steven/Stefan thing was absurd.

DOn't apologize for that and also Beavis and Butthead while asinine and for the most part absurd and completely pointless had a weird level of intelligence there.
Or at least Mike Judge did, and does.
He basically took the primal stupid waste of a teen and in turn parodied the coming uselessness of music videos and as a whole created a weird subculture commentary.

Soon it became a parody of its fanbase.
The fanbase then devolved further in to the very characteristics that Mike Judge was exxagerating in these characters.

But yeah for the most part... no redeeming value but damned funny.

There was a short lived show called "Buffalo Bill" wth Dabney Coleman as the lead character and Geena Davis as his much abused protege. I loved it but it was censored because hr had no redeeming character qualities. By today's standards, he would have been considered loveable.

Clap

Mike Judge is a genius with these things.  The movie Idiocracy is also fantastic and a  must watch.    Sadly, I think Idiocracy was also a parody of the American people and they are slowly becoming more and more like it.    Now we have a show called "Wipeout" where people get hit by objects and fall down on TV.    Sounds alot like "Oww My Balls" from Idiocracy.

The early season Steve is who I meant, I agree that it got really stupid later.

Kinda the same thing that happened when Happy Days became The Fonzi Show.

I agree with Jack Lord of "Five-O." His "Steve McGarrett" is one of my favorite characters.

Others of mine:

Jonathan and Jennifer Hart (plus Max and Freeway)-- "Hart to Hart"
Judge Milton Hardcastle and Mark McCormick-- "Hardcastle and McCormick"
Roger Thomas, Dwayne Clemens, and Rerun Stubbs-- "What's Happening!!"
Mary Richards, Rhoda Morgenstern, et al.-- "Mary Tyler Moore"

Another great movie, "Office Space", which Judge directed, was based on one of his first series of animated shorts, about a mentally unstable office geek named Milton who was being pushed to the edge by having his office moved into a closet & having his stapler taken away from him...

Fuck YouTube & their disabled embedding crap. Here's the link to it.

Anyway....it's baffling to me, how a guy who could come up with such cool, funny stuff could also be responsible for hokey crap like King of the Hill.

Great news guys.... With the Air Hawk, flat balls are no longer a problem!!!
