I don't know know about you, but I love songs where the singer just kind of goes crazy at the end singing their own adlib, what I call a rant.

A good example is Hey Jude, where Paul McCartney goes off at the end.

The Guess Who - Share the Land
Supertramp - Just Another Nervous Wreck
5th Dimension - Let the Sun Shine In

Wall of Voodoo's Call of the West is about suburbanites moving to the deserts of Southern California ("Son, this ain't no Western movie matinee.  You're a long way off from yippie-yi-yay").

It ends with this rant:

I used to be somebody!
I used to be somebody, do you hear me?
Do you hear me? I've been there!
I used to be somebody, god damn you!
I've been there before!
Don't walk away!
Well, you you wanted unleaded?
Unleaded, that's the next pump over, so keep on movin', okay?
No, it's out of order.

I think I Am the Walrus has some kind of unintelligible rant at the end of it.

How can you have any pudding, if you don't eat your meat?

Not quite on topic, but related...

Grand Funk's I Want Freedom starts out with nearly 2 minutes of pointless (and difficult to hear) studio chatter, along with a false start.  It's really annoying when I have the CD on and I have to forward it to the actual song.  This stuff wasn't on the 45 that I bought as a teen, so why did they put it on the album?

First one that came to mind when I read the topic title is Denis Leary's "Asshole" LOL  That's a literal rant he goes on.

Guns & Roses' "Get in the Ring" (another literal trash talk/rant)
Fun's "We Are Young"
The Cranberries' "Dreams"

Would Hey Jude qualify?

"I am the lizard king; I can do anything".

That's how the Doors' Not to Touch the Earth inexplicably ends.

It's not exactly "ranty" (new word) but I love Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody which starts off all nice and pleasant then goes all bat sh*t crazy!

I literally (figuratively speaking) worshipped Grand Funk in jr high school, which is when that album came out. I wanted it so badly, it was all I could think about until I finally got it. I don't remember how, but I think I somehow wound up with two of them.

Been so long since I listened to it, I've forgotten what that song sounds like, & your video isn't working, so I'll have to try YT later on.

But, as to why they put the chatter on the album, I think GFR liked to do that kind of thing. Gave the album a kind of "you are there" appeal.

I think you can hear something similar at the beginning of Closer to Home or I'm Your Captain, or whatever it's called.

And also, The Beatles did it too, so....

Speaking of which...

"I've got blisters on my fingers!!!"

As yelled out by either John Lennon or Ringo Starr at the end of Helter Skelter on The Beatles' White Album.

I think, though it was previously assumed to be Lennon, that modern conventional wisdom attributes it to Ringo.

Sounds more like Lennon, though.

It seems to be taking a long time to buffer, but it eventually gets there.  For me, anyway.

I don't mind a few seconds of that stuff.  But not nearly 2 minutes worth.  It might as well be 2 minutes of silence between songs.

If you're a dedicated fan of whatever band it is, then that kind of stuff is a highly desirable bonus.

Getting to hear the objects of your worship & admiration engaging in studio banter is the pinnacle of... something.

But I would imagine that if you heard something like that on a Ramones album, you'd find it endlessly fascinating.

Doesn't sound like him.

And you'd think that, being a rhythm guitar player, it would be Lennon who had the blistered fingers.

Did you listen to it?  It's pretty nothing.  No joking, no swear words, no insight---just a lotta "Take 2" kinda stuff.  I'm not even sure if it's one of the band members or a studio engineer talking.

And no, I wouldn't find it fascinating on a Ramones album.  Just play the song, already, goddammit!

Primus' "Spaghetti Western" has the rant at the start of the song, with one of my favorite lines / sayings:

"Funny thing about weekends when you're unemployed - they don't mean quite so much, except that you get to hang out with your working friends."

Interesting way to look at it LOL

I tried watching it on YouTube, but because I'm on my android tablet, it won't let me.

That's why I can't watch it from here either.

I'll have to wait until later when I'm on my Windows laptop.

musicman:  Excellent, fun topic!  Clap

This is not really a rant, it's just three words, but the meaning behind it was kind of a rant.  It's also a favorite song of mine, so qualifies:

"Touch Me" by The Doors

Jim Morrison ends the song singing "Stronger than dirt" which was the Ajax cleanser slogan.  He was pissed off that the other three band members wanted to accept an offer from Buick to use "Light My Fire" in a commercial, to which Jim was opposed.  Also, the last four notes of "Touch Me" are the same notes of the Ajax commercial's "Stronger than dirt" slogan.

It was Ringo.  He yelled it out because he had played so hard on the take after take of "Helter Skelter" recording session.  This is an absolute fact.  It does sound like Lennon to some, but it's def Ringo.

^^ Reminds me of Metallica's "Blitzkrieg" off of their debut album.  At the end of the song you hear Lars (coincidentally also the band's drummer) yelling "I f**ked up in one place."   They decided to go ahead and leave it in the final cut of the song.

Oran "Juice" Jones song called The Rain goes from a ballad about being broken hearted that his woman is cheating on him, to a rap about him confronting her and taking back all the jewelry he ever gave her. When he suddenly says "Silly rabbit, tricks are for kids,"I bust out laughing. Then he says "You're just a squirrel trying to get a nut," which is also funny and can also be seen as a slightly naughty double entendre..... His ending rant rap is one of the funniest song endings of all time... LOL.

That's not the type of rant I'm talking about. No spoken words.
This includes the long soliloquy at the end of Nights In White Satin

I'm talking about sung rants. Listen to the songs I listed and you will get what I mean.

Hey Jude might throw someone off because now that I think of it, though he does sing most of it,
Paul does sort of talk some lines.

I kind of like the false start on Closer To Home. Mark plays the second note wrong on his guitar.

I just remembered after posting this that this song Closer To Home has an awesome singing rant at the end of it.
Problem is, you can barely hear it. It is way down, barely audible in the mix, but if you listen really closely, headphones required, you can hear Mark singing and screaming.

Though it starts earlier you can hear him the loudest at 8:30.
