He could have just run over the laptop with the lawnmower.

He could have donated the laptop to a needy college student, or even sold it.  It was a shame he destroyed it, even though his brat did deserve it.

There are a ton of "reply" videos at YouTube. He'd have to wipe the hard drive if he donated it.Question I'm sure the daughter is all the rage at school after this.

What a coincidence!!! Shocked

Some guy I had never met before was telling me about this very same video just yesterday. LOL

A couple of friends of mine belong to the local gem & mineral society (the "rock club" as they call it) which is basically a club, school & workshop for local hobbyist jewelry makers. People pay dues to belong to the club & rent shop time to use the equipment & there are instructors there too, etc. etc. etc.

Anyway, in order to raise funds to help pay the rent & electric bill, etc., they've started making & selling beef, pork & ham sandwiches on Fridays & Saturdays. I was over there yesterday helping them out, slicing meat, making sandwiches for customers, helping clean up afterwards, etc.

(I was there about 4 hours & got a free sandwich out of the deal. Of course, I'll do just about anything for free food. Big smileTongue The sandwiches are huge, BTW. Half a pound of meat on each one for 6 bucks)

Anyway, while they were making 4 sandwiches for this one guy, I got to talking to him about modern technology, computers & Facebook, etc. & he told me about that video.

As for the laptop, If I was him, I would've (& he might've even done this) taken all the guts out & just shot holes thru an empty case. I was saying that to that guy yesterday.

Pretty dumb to destroy a perfectly good computer. Anyone think maybe the guy is just trying to become a YouTube star?

Great news guys.... With the Air Hawk, flat balls are no longer a problem!!!

If it is totally real, I think it sends the message to his daughter that he cares a lot more about her and her character than he does about his own pocket book.  I'm sure he bought it in the first place.

I happen to think it's a great message.

A perfect example of everything posted on the internet is not private, especially facebook. Now, it's all over YouTube. When she goes looking for part time work(to pay for another laptop) at Burger King, they will see that she wants money, but doesn't want to work for it.

Dad will probably give her a ride to school tomorrow, to show how sorry he was, then go buy some more bullets.Wink

I was reading his blog.  Some coffee shop posted a video offering his daughter a job.  Which is cool, only it was about an hour away from them so it wasn't really a reasonable place for her to work.

"Dear girl, whoever you are.... we're a local business that serves the public & we're in need of an immature teenager with a snotty, bitchy, selfish attitude to come work for us. We haven't been getting enough complaints about poor service & rude employees lately & we think someone like you could help us rectify that situation. Please come down & apply immediately, as we cannot stand all these annoying happy customers hanging around here spending their money."

Confused

BTW, didn't the "dad" say that she was 15 y/o?

Don't you have to be 16?

WinkI didn't say that...but, well...sometimes that works (although I generally prefer to take a bikeride, instead).

Sounds to me like both the dad and supposed "coffee shop" are attention whores. Why does this no-name dad have a blog? Why show himself emptying a pistol into her laptop ? And why would a real business(an hour's drive away) want to hire this girl after hearing the video besides publicity for their business.

Yeah, I guess because he used a gun on the PC, which it ironically isn't,  they wanted to make sure he wasn't 'fixing' to shoot her too.

Interesting.
Appears the police became fans of his and the obligatory DSS visit was just that.
Good parenting.

I suspect he wanted to give his daughter a taste of her own medicine, but shooting the laptop went too far.  No, I have no emotional ties to the laptop - I just can't see wasting something that was in good condition.  He's an IT guy, so he knew how to wipe it and either donate it or sell it.

I wouldn't call this good parenting.  It had its flaws.  He did teach his daughter that when angry, it's permissible to shoot objects, and that airing your business to everybody on the internet is ok, too.  She did it on her Facebook page, he did it on Facebook and Youtube.  No private business in that family.

And if he just HAD to destroy it, he could've backed his car (or truck) over it. Coulda took a sledge hammer to it. Or a baseball bat.

But noooooooooooo..... Mr. Redneck gun wacko had to take out his handgun & pump bullets thru it.

Made him feel like a badass I guess.

What's he going to do if she gets a job, buys a POS car, and breaks curfew?  Slash the tires?  Shoot the engine?  Hell, just have the car compacted. Thumbs Up

With all due respect:
Unless you have children, who are you to determine anything about 'good parenting'?
It isn't simple...and opinions are become like assholes - everyone has them.
Some things simply work.

Oh, I don't know, Pa.... With all due respect: who are YOU to come down on me for expressing my opinion on an OPINION forum?

I guess I keep forgetting that yours is the only valid opinion around here.

And I suppose it should be obvious to anyone that just because someone has kids, their opinion about some computer shooting idiot is automatically more valid than the opinions of those who don't.

I just find it amusing how some people are so easily impressed with anything that involves "shootin somethin".

"Gol-dang, Cletus.... didja see thet thar feller in thet thar vi-dee-o???? He jes shot his youngin's com-pew-tur fer sayin stuff he didn't like!!!!! I bet that learnt her a lesson, by dangy!!!!!"

BTW.... that comment seems to imply an assumption on your part that shooting the computer "worked".

On what basis did you draw that conclusion?

How do you know that it "worked" & had it's intended effect on the guy's daughter?

Just curious, doncha know....
