Just started seeing this complete load on msnbc tonight....guessing an announcer with a British accent means it's GOTTA be legit:

I like the assertion that jewelers have a hard time telling the difference between real diamonds and these shiny chunks of plastic.

I, too, doubt jewelers can't tell the difference.  But I'll bet the average person glancing at it would think it's real.  As long as you don't buy your fiance some ridiculous-sized version of this ring, making people suspicious, I'd say it's the smart way to go.  Then you can put your money into something worthwhile (like a down payment on a house or a home theater system...or maybe you can convince your betrothed that some much-needed breast implants would be good for her self-esteem).  Of course, she'd have to be on board with this because, if she has an inkling of a doubt, she'll have it appraised...and then you're toast.

I once saw, in a window of a pawn shop, this really cool ring.  Gaudy as f*ck.  Totally Mexican.  It was a regular man's ring, but the face of it stretched across the entire width of 4 fingers, and said "Pablo" in diamonds (fake ones, no doubt, considering the price was about $50).  I'd like to have gotten it for myself, but I didn't want anyone to think I was Pablo's bitch or something.

Oh c'mon. These so-called jewelers are just as fake as those so-called doctors telling us how great these new pills & potions advertised on TV are.

What kind of guy would try to slip a fake $20 ring to his woman - unless his name is Billy Bob.

Absolutely agree....all it's missing is a zoomed-in shot of him with the loupe stuck in his eye, pulling it away with a huge smile and knowingly nodding with approval.    DeadDead
