Folks:

Another annoying commercial series are the Chevrolet ones that feature "Real people - not actors" gawking and drooling over mid-priced Chevys that are just like BMW, Lexis, and Infinity luxury models.

"When I first sit in the seat, it makes me think of a BMW."

"I feel like I am in a Lexis."

"It's like a luxury car."

"It's kind of like an Infinity."

And then you have a dorky guy (Jason) exclaim in shock - "This is Chevy?"

Somehow, none of these "actors" .. I mean "real people" have any clue they are sitting in a Chevy... even with the Chevrolet emblem smack dab center on the steering wheel column?

If these mindless and clueless individuals are "real people" - then I'm afraid for the human race!

Hey Kevin: Cool

Thanks for the welcome! Smile

I'll try to search out existing threads... so I don't duplicate content.

But, had to get out some "top of mind" hated commercials! Wink

You're going to fit in just fine with the CIH crowd here!

Luckily, the TV hasn't turned your mind to tapioca yet.
There's still time to revolt!

I keep a notebook of companies I WILL NEVER BUY FROM simply because I hate their commercials.

I've never been a fan of blatant and obvious characters trying to pass themselves off as real people. I consider it a bit insulting.

But...

If I blacklisted every product that had a lousy commercial, I'd be back in the woods living off tree rodentia.

All of them are just lame. Some of the ads on YouTube are the much longer extended versions, 4-5 minutes. I can't even take 30 seconds of these idiots, I'm going to watch 4 minutes of this junk?

This one drives me up the wall, not ONE of these so called "real people" gets ticked off when this hipster d'bag starts throwing eggs at them. (Sorry, they only had the 1min 20sec version)

There's a new one (to me, anyway) where the "interviewer" collects all the "real people"s cell phones so they can't post pictures, then tosses the phones into a wood chipper. Of course they all protest at first, but then he pulls back a curtain and shows them a new Chevy. Suddenly they all forget about those $600 phones he just destroyed instead of just placing them in... I dunno... a box or something.

Kinda proof (like I needed any) to me that they're actors. No real person would go all "ooo, shiny" over some generic sedan enough to forget that you just destroyed their property... especially their phones. Most people today act like they're having heroin withdrawals if they have to look for the thing for more than 10 seconds.

Then again, maybe they all think they're going to get a car in exchange for their phone, but thinking that would mean that these "real people" aren't living in the real world.

I'm not even going to mention the ridiculousness of taking phones away from people to keep them from posting pics IN A COMMERCIAL. You're advertising. People posting pics of your product is free advertising. If anything, you would show these people the car on the condition that they spread the word.

Oops, guess I mentioned it.

^That's the one that slimed me. Thanks. LOL

Either they have a different version, or I wasn't caffeinated enough, or I turned away in disgust too soon, but I don't remember seeing him give them their phones back. That would explain the casual atmosphere being restored before the unveiling of that amazing car.

Still actors, though, AFAIC.

A horrible series of commercials from Chevrolet. They are ACTORS dammit. Of course they don't know about the Chevrolet emblem in the front. A car is only a car to them - they are too busy before they drive looking at SnapChat, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to even care about what make and model it is.

Just another reason why I will NEVER buy another GM car ever again.
Seriously, the recall on GM cars going back to 1997??  I don't think I see many GM cars on the road this old - since they don't last 18 years!

I had a damn spanking brand new 98 Pontiac Grand Prix GT that constantly leaked oil (had numerous other issues every other month also) - dealers couldn't figure out the problem, location. The leak screwed my driveway up..leak was fixed for a few months. I repaved my driveway in the fall. Leak returned a few months later during one of the cold winters here and I would end up parking my car and putting a stupid pan under the engine. Car never reached 60K miles before I sold the lemon, money pit of a clunker. Great looking car, but useless when your piece of mind was in the gutter thinking it could break down anywhere - which it did a few times. Starter, total electrical failure. Issues that were not cheap fixes.

" DETROIT - OCT. 27, 2015
GM RECALLING 1.4M CARS; OIL LEAKS CAN CAUSE ENGINE FIRES
For the third time in seven years, General Motors is recalling cars that can leak oil and catch fire, in some instances damaging garages and homes.

The recall, which covers 1.4 million vehicles dating to the 1997 model year, is needed because repairs from the first two recalls didn't work. More than 1,300 cars caught fire after they were fixed by dealers, the company said.

In the previous recalls, in 2008 and 2009, GM told owners to park the cars outside until repairs can be made since most of the fires happened shortly after drivers turned off the engines. A spokesman was checking to see if the same recommendation applies this time.

In addition, GM will notify owners of 500,000 more cars that were not repaired in the previous recalls, spokesman Alan Adler said.

The latest recall, mainly in North America, includes: the 1997-2004 Pontiac Grand Prix and Buick Regal; the 2000-2004 Chevrolet Impala; the 1998 and 1999 Chevrolet Lumina and Oldsmobile Intrigue; and the 1998-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. All have 3.8-liter V6 engines."
