I think I revisited an old dream the other night, but I'm not sure.  It's possible that I just dreamt that I was revisiting an old dream, and that I actually never had that dream before.  I'll never know.

I think that I too, have dreamt that I was dreaming a dream that I had dreamt before but afterward wasn't sure if I was just dreaming that I had dreamt the dream, but really hadn't.

Exactly!  There was a period of time right after I bought my house that I was dreaming a lot about houses.  Big houses!  With lots of rooms and passageways.  If I had dreamt this dream before, it would've been at that time, as this was what it was about.

I had a dream that I got chased down and was getting my ass kicked by a group of serial murderers...about the time I saw the first fist coming down, I screamed for MissyDWolf who immediately woke me up by kicking my ass, starting with a punch in the face for scaring the crap outta her and sending her onto the hard, cold floor.

It was the first time I ever saw the start of a physical action, in a dream, end in real life.
It was a painful experience.
Both the assailant from my dream, and MissyDWolf, are 'righties'...

If I ever have to go through a dream-life-to-real-life experience again, I hope it has something to do with 'making lil'spotty puppies'Big%20smile...

...and I hope it isn't because of Chantix.
Chantix sponsors 'Criminal Minds'? Probably the most brutal and gut-wrenching episode, ever...starring, you guessed it..."Dr. Frank N Furter" himself...and I think he was trying to use Chantix to quit smoking and quit meth and quit playing with guns, all at once...he kinda had a 'reaction', I believe...

I can't believe no one has pointed out how annoying this woman's accent is. I would imagine it's even worse if you are trying to stop smoking and have to listen to this.

Note to advertisers: don't pick people for national commercials who have strong and irritating regional accents.

A friend of mine took Chantix and was actually sent into a mental breakdown and attempted suicide.

I'd rather die of slow cigarette-induced suicide. I'm in flavor-country. Smile

I quit smoking in 2003.  I was a chain-smoker, and I quit cold-turkey.  No drugs, no nothing.  I just quit.  It makes me mad to see all these drug commercials because these drugs can kill you, or make you want to kill someone else.  We would be better off using natural drugs like marijuana to calm down, rather than some government-approved crap that screws up your brain function.

As I recall, the woman has a New Jersey accent.  Who cares?  My grandmother was from Texas and I loved her voice.  My husband is a New Yorker and I love his accent too.  It disturbs me that so many people want to eradicate regional accents.  This is part of what makes each of us unique.  Would you really prefer a world in which everyone speaks in a homogenized, bland, California-like tone?  This is what the world is coming to: no personality, no individuality, no VOICE.  People used to have distinct voices.  Anyone could pick out Humphrey Bogart, Peter Lorre, Mae West, James Cagney, Katharine Hepburn, Orson Welles, Johnny Carson, Dean Martin...how many personalities can you say that about today?

A lot of those actors, especially from earlier eras, had that faux British accent.  I get a kick out of hearing Lorne Green doing his song "Ringo", in which he says "desut saaand", "under his hott", and "the spoks still buwned".  It's one thing if you're playing some wealthy Northerner, but another when you play a Western rancher.

Both can be bad.  My 36 y/o neighbor has gone through about five years of bouts of intense vomiting and pain, that include weekly ambulance trips to the hospital, all sorts of medicine, special diets, every medical test in the book, a gall bladder removal, a gastic intussusception.  It's been hell for him (and his family).  He actually had to get on SSI and food stamps as a result.

The only relief he gets is from really long showers (using up all the hot water) several times per day, and marijuana.  Both calmed him down.  Or so he thought.  Last week, when he was in the hospital, a nurse told his parents that she looked at his history, and believes he's having a reaction to the buildup of THC in his system.  Her niece had the same symptoms, got off pot, and everything cleared up.  Turns out there've been some studies in the last ten years on marijuana users with the same symptoms (even the long showers), and it turns out that it's the pot they have a problem with.  The syndrome is called cannabinoid hyperemesis.

FYI...prior to getting sick, he smoked pot regularly.  So, it's not as if he got sick and tried pot to alleviate the symptoms.  He already was a stoner.  Therein lied the problem.

What annoys me most is that it was a nurse who told the skeptical doctor about these studies, not the other way around.  All these years, and the docs never thought to Google anything.  Then again, neither did the patient himself.  He thought all along that the pot was helping him...and the doctors all along dismissed his family asking "Could the pot be hurting him?", too.

Wow, that's a huge inferential leap from the statement that *strong* regional accents can be grating and should not be used in national commercials, to accusing someone of maintaining that regional accents should be "eradicated." That's not at all what I said.

Advertisers routinely exclude from consideration "talent" or "real people" with all kinds of characteristics that make them less attractive to potential customers than people with different characteristics. This website is full of comments from people who don't like choices that advertisers made. Until you're ready to advocate that advertisers should choose their company representatives at random, then your position makes no sense.

If you like NJ accents or any other, good for you. But you likely find something annoying (that I may not), or else you wouldn't be visiting this site.

That's not an accent. That's called "low class." Remember the part of the commercial where she says, "My Benjamin, he said...." Whoever picked the actors for these Chantix commercials really scored, didn't they? The woman is dressed like, and sounds like,  a low-class hooker. The man having a cookout and telling everyone he quit smoking looks like a burned-out alcoholic.

What would be perfect in the one with the female is when the announcer is regaling us with all the side effects and gets to the part about suicidal and personality changes (while the actress is making lunch at the counter while her husband sits at the table) would be the following:

[music from the shower scene in Psycho]: ree-ree-ree-ree

She pulls a knife out of the kitchen drawer and starts repeatedly stabbing her husband in the back of the neck, while that Psycho music pulses. ree-ree-ree-ree

Whaddaya think?

It might be Massachusetts but it sounds like, to me, (an expert on this see my location in my profile?) a Maine accent.  Yeah they're strong trust me!  In fact hers is pretty moderate, where I grew up in the really rural part Downeast a lot of people have Maine accents so thick even I have trouble understanding them (and I'm a third generation, grew up there, former local).

The big clue that makes me think it's definitely a Maine accent (not surprising we have one of the highest smoking rates in the nation...though I'm about to grab a cigarette myself so I'm a hypocrite) is the way she says "mom" when she talks about what her son says.  It's a short, clipped "mum" sound, which is very Maine (Maine is a closer to a hybrid Scottish-Canadian accent than anything else).

Ayuh! I think you might be right about that accent. I still say it just sounds unpolished to my ear. And speaking about Cialis. I'm so SICK of hearing about erectile dysfunction! My God, you can't get through a news broadcast without seeing the guy driving his truck, or the people sitting in the bathtubs, or the guy on the motorcycle spiriting his woman off to a motel. Give me a break! If you have a 4-hour erection, no doctor will be called. That's not a worry, that's a joy! Evil Smile

So the rabid anti smokers would prefer that you offed yourself or assuated or killed an innocent as long as you quit smoking? A recent Oregon law prohibits smoking within 10ft of a commercial doorway. My question is: would I be cited for smoking within 10ft of a hookah smoking lounge doorway! I tried chantix and it seemed to be helping. My job at the time included e-mails of all drug alerts. When I received the alerts for chantix I quit!
