Hello everyone!  Long time lurker, first time poster.  I already searched the boards to make sure there wasn't already a topic started on this....

Yesterday it snowed here all day so I was stuck inside to rot in front of the TV and watched several different channels.  I kept seeing a commercial for "Brand Power" all day long.  It is almost along the lines of a news briefing rather than a commercial.  A song plays and then a girl comes on and tells you about some product.  I usually see these commercials once in a while, but yesterday they were on 2 and 3 times in one commercial break.  They kept talking about midol.  I remember them previously talking about V8 V Fusion juice.

What is the point of these advertisements?  I don't get it....

I see those commercials a lot, too.  Hadn't noticed them, lately.

The website looks like they're trying to sell us an opportunity to join a SPAM club.

OMG how coincidental if one of the brands they represent is actual Spam, the canned meat product?
Let's try not to be boring, mkay?

Simply another method of product promotion, from my perspective. In a way, it reminds me of the 'Good Housekeeping Seal'.

It's totally crappy. The products seem so cheapened by the commercials.

They look like mini infomercials for some random product.   They're just... weird.

And out of that, they make it look like a commercial parodying an infomercial parodying a talk show.   WTF?  LOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOL

I wonder if the Brand Power commercial randomly picks an item a secretary is eating for lunch (and likes) and decides to make a commercial for it.  I'm sure if the real company wanted to promote the item that they'd make a regular commercial for it and not have someone else advertise it.  In reality, I'm sure the manufacturers welcome these commercials because its (probably) free advertising for them, and the BP commercials focus on product info (i.e. nutritional value) and not BS.

Just the opposite...it's an advertising company.  Their commercials are paid for by their sponsors.
