Ugh, I just saw this commercial.  Video is below.  I don't even understand the point of the song lyrics.  What does this have to do with shopping at Wal-Mart and Dove?  Why would Dove team up with Wal-Mart?!?

And the gums/teeth on the doctor when she smiles...eek! Shocked  She should be singing about her horse mouth and not hair making you giggle!  I just hope this ad doesn't last long, like the 'We Will Rock You' Wal-Mart ad

If you weren't familiar with the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty before this, I can see where this would be a little bizarre. A while back, Dove started a halfhearted, half-assed psuedo-PSA ad campaign to promote positive female body imagery. It ran a couple of ads about unrealistic images in magazines and such, but this is the first I've heard from them in a while.

And yes, that doctor's smile is the stuff of nightmares. It looks like her jaw could unhinge.

That commercial's back. The one with the 7 y/o girl proclaiming in front of a group of women that she promises to see herself as beautiful blah blah blah...right?  I saw it twice in the past few days, if that's the one you mean.

I actually never saw that one. I saw the one with the plain-jane who was photoshopped into a cover girl, and one other one whose details escape me at the moment.

I saw this one last night during The Jay Leno Show.   I literally said out loud: What the fnck was that?.    Why have Walmart commercials been so douchey lately?    It seems like they're doing this cutesy female vocals commercials to hide their real evil side.

Walmart: Taking over the world as we hypnotize you with obnoxious jingles.

This is absolutely the best commercial I've seen in a long time!  Finally, women are getting praise and acceptance for being normal instead of fake perfect.  Our society needs many more messages like this.  I am very sad that some people mock and make fun of others' imperfections.  When you make fun of others it is because you need to make yourself feel OK.

Uh ok? Confused If you need a commercial to tell you you're beautiful you've got bigger problems.

I don't know, Hez - for our entire lives, commercial advertising has shoved the message down our throats that we are somehow inadequate unless we buy their products.  Beauty/grooming product advertising has clearly sent the message that we need to achieve a certain level of beauty, a standard set by them.

Dove (Walmart?) broke away from that, to send the message that we are good enough, even with flaws (so buy the products that accept you the way you are).

No one needs a commercial to tell them that, but we haven't needed commercials to tell us we suck, either.

I'm kind of tired of the Dove campaign, to be honest - but still appreciate the sentiment.
Let's try not to be boring, mkay?

I first saw this the other day and thought it was the dumbest thing I've ever seen; very sappy and gag-inducing.

I try not to let too many things bother me anymore, but when I hear this Dove "Does your ass start to jiggle, does your hair make you giggle" tune, I can barely suppress homicidal tendencies.

I get that Dove is trying to promote inner beauty and that all woemn are pretty despite their flaws, etc. but the song! THE SONG! Ear drum shattering nasty! AngryAngryAngry

I also changed the thread title - no way would you have found it, since it only referenced Wal-mart.

The first time I saw this ad on TV, I totally froze then blurted out "Oh my gosh, what a HORRIBLE commercial!" And that doctor with her horse teeth reminds me of the director of my college's theatre department. She looks so much like that I thought it WAS her in the ad. Then I thought up my own version of this ad...

Does this ad really suck
Will it make you run amok
Down Times Square, with an axe
And chop off some heads?
If I hear it one more time,
Someone's surely goin' to die
Cuz this ad...really...sucks!

That commercial and the singing are both terrible, but somehow the song still gets stuck in my head. Angry

I don't get why hair would make someone giggle. And I agree, she has a very "gummy" smile.

I don't hate, I just dislike this commercial. especially the doctor with huge teeth and destroyed hair, and the lesbian basketball player.

also the girl after the doctor looks like her eyeball are falling out.

Dear Dove: The campaign was supposed to be a "Campaign for Real Beauty," not a "Campaign for Real Ugly." CREEPY!

I like the message behind the commercial, I just hate the stupid song...it's stuck in my head and won't go away!

I do feel sorry for her (okay...not enough to avoid making a "Mrs. Ed" comment).  But I don't think there's anything one could do about such a mouth.  You're born with it---you're stuck with it.  No need to mock!  I'll bet she could yackety-yack a streak, though.

I'll stop now.  She has a tough field to plow.
