I'll bite. If you have to mention that you're not racist, you're probably racist.

People love music. A lot of Black people gain an interest in new music they may have never been exposed to otherwise by way of commercials, songs in movies they like, or even the title screen of a game like Madden or FIFA.

You racist.

I like to watch music reaction videos on Youtube. Usually, it's for some old song I like. And usually the Youtubers are black, male and female. And, invariably they have positive reactions to these songs. Yesterday, I watched reaction videos for Grand Funk's Inside Looking Out and Black Sabbath's Into the Void. The black reactors loved the songs.

I found a reaction to the Pet Shop Boys song in the commercial, but it was from a black Brit.

Here's a reaction to another Pet Shop Boys song, but from a black American.

I'm in my fifties. But when I was younger I listened to all kinds of music. Springsteen, Parliament/Funkadelic, Talking Heads, etc. I have (or "had" really, since a tornado destroyed a lot of possessions years ago) every album by Peter Gabriel, Genesis and Kate Bush. I knew a girl from my old neighborhood that was into Stevie Nicks. My cousin is a big Dolly Parton fan.

We're black.

It pisses me off when people try to tell us what music we like.

LOL

I don't see too many Rolls Royce cars in my neighborhood. Wink

Since this had turned into a talk about race...

This guy I went to Pike High with in Indy had a VW beatle with a Rolls Royce front end. LOL  Even the teachers were talking about it!  Oh, he was a black dude.

I had a 68 El Camino with a 327 4-speed. I was famous for lighting up the tires in the parking lot.

This was my youthful exotic car experience.

'73 Triumph TR6

The day I bought it.....

(note the oil stain free driveway)

After having it painted....

(Note the no longer oil stain free driveway) LOL

Prior to that, it was this bad boy....

Had to satisfy those big boy toy urges we've all gotten. Wink

LOL
Very cool, Jimbo!

My dad raced those old cars with the SCCA. I've had several bikes accidents too.  One nearly fatal, I lost a lot of blood, and another I hit a dog and just skinned my elbows and knees.

I got rid of the bike after two fatal accidents involving young guys about my age happened near me in two weeks.

One of them was the son of a guy I had worked with once.

Coming around a corner, doing the speed limit, a county lawn maintenance truck hauling an equipment trailer came around the opposite way. The trailer swung out, he hit the trailer, flew off his bike head first into a palm tree.

He was about to enter the USAF Academy.

Sad.

I put the bike up for sale.

Black people don't like Pet Shop Boys.   I am not being racist, I am being honest. White nerds like I do.  If they want to retro to the 80s,  have him listening to Anita Baker.    There.  I said it.  Lets riot.

I like the Pet Shop Boys. A lot of my friends do. We're black. Don't presume to tell us what we like.

Because hint: That's racist.

Um - no- It's not racist- It's an observation The point is it's not believable.  Make the product fit the hand. Make the music fit the man.   The sad part is  no one is allowed to make an observation without being called the "R" word.  But if that makes you feel good, go for it.  I can recall black guys laughing at Bon Jovi songs back in the day when Public Enemy ruled

Not true! I'm black and I like the Pet Shop Boys. This commercial doesn't bother me.
