Not certain if this is the forum for it, but when I see these commercials, they ruin my day.

The commercials don't bother me as much as the ideas (if you can call them that) behind them. The author, Seth Grahame-Smith, and his whole spiel is basically to take a revered work or person (Jane Austen's greatest novel, America's greatest president, the Bible) and smear a trending pop culture reference all over it. His first work was "Pride and Predjudice and Zombies." Now he's doing it to Abraham Lincoln and vampires. Sure, why not, those are in this year.

I did read PaPaZ. It was a huge missed opportunity and devoid of anything but the most obvious humor, but largely harmless. I didn't think he'd just keep doing it over and over. If he really gets to live the easy life with such little effort or creativity, just, man.

Rent is expensive in California and I understand sometimes you have to pander and take the easy money. But once you're rich, don't be a Jared Hess about it and do the same thing over and over. Nobody will care after a while (see "Gentlemen Broncos"). Try something different already.

And don't get me started on the Gray Shades or whatever they're called.

Clap Duck, you nailed it!

My family HATES this ad, for precisely the reason you so eloquently stated..."smearing a trending pop culture reference all over" Lincoln. Especially Mrs. TK -- she's literally come out of her chair screaming at the TV a couple times when this drivel has come on.

I second PaWolf's "Welcome Aboard!!!"

While I, too, think this is a rather silly idea for a movie, I have seen much worse.  Also, I will eagerly await the DVD of it for no other reason than that Rufus Sewell is in it--head vampire I believe. (you know there will be no more Zen movies on Masterpiece Mystery so I have to see him in something).  And there will be more from this author's series, the Jane Austen is already in production.

At first I would've wrote this off as another film cashing in on the whole 'vampire' craze started by 'Twilight', 'The Vampire Diaries', and 'True Blood'. The only way this could've worked is if it was A pure farce, but since this is based on A book of all things, I don't know. Since Tim Burton is involved, I don't have much hope for this after his previous stab at the 'vampire' trend with 'Dark Shadows'. So I wouldn't be surprised if the Gossip Industry went 'gaga' over this simply because it involves vampires. Because as we all know, they still haven't gotten over their wet dream fantasies of Robert Pattinson!

I believe this ad is actually for the book, not the movie. Hopefully, the movie will look better.

WinkIn the original thread about this movie, think I mentioned this is a joint effort between the guy who worked up 'District 9' and Tim Burton. Farthest think from 'independent', I suspect.

The thing I absolutely hate in the previews is Abe spinning or twirling the axe as he's attacking the zombie. That, and a clip where he runs up a wall just like Jolie did in the preview for "Salt". What stupid moves. But "kewl!" I guess  Disapprove

ROFL. The fact that you used the words "Clinton", "Cigar" and "Snatch" in that one sentence just made me forget what the hell this thread was about....... what were we talking about? LOL

This movie trailer looks so pretentious, if only in the "ironic" sense that Tarantino films are. This idea would have had his name all over it.

No offense to any Tarantino fans, but he does nothing for me.

You know, I would be excited to see it if the film didn't look like it was taking itself so seriously. I LOVE terrible movies...they are some of my favourites (think Troll 2, The Room, etc). I freaking LOVE the idea of Abraham Lincoln being a vampire hunter, but I don't like that it looks like the film wants to be taken seriously. That kind of takes the fun out of it all. I'll probably still see it though, just because I hope it WILL be a "hilariously bad" movie in the end.

I crack up every time I think about that line from Troll 2.

Actually, I just saw an interview with the author of the books, think the director of film was there, too, but he based all of the "ax work" on the history surrounding Lincoln's prowess using his axes(?).  He explained it in good detail but best I can say is that he thinks he has a perfectly explainable reason for Lincoln's expert handling of the ax.  And hey, don't we see many people in movies wielding strange and unusual weapons? (and that we sometimes call bullsh*t on) Just saying...
